🚨🚨 Covid19 cases in Wales are up 117% week on week - this increase is the highest weekly increase seen by any of the home nations since the summer.

➡️ Cases have less relevance with #Omicron so much more transmissible - patients in intensive care unchanged and deaths down
🚨🚨 311 confirmed #COVID19 patients in general beds in Wales - up 32% on a week ago but 79% lower than last year

◼️ No change in no of patients in ventilated beds the past week - 72% lower than last year

We continue to see a fall in the number of deaths linked to #Covid19 in Wales although there is a time lag with cases.

Deaths are currently 94% lower than this time last year.
Both the case rate per 100k people and positivity rate (% of tests positive) are the highest they have been recorded.

It's likely it was higher at the start in March 2020 but there was very little testing happening.
Rates are highest in the South Wales areas of Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil

Rates lowest in Powys, Carmarthenshire and Monmouthshire but even these rates are high compared to the past.
#Wales #COVID19 #Vaccine Tracker as at 29 December

1️⃣ 2,489,359 first doses given out - 90.5% of 12 and over

2️⃣ 2,301,312 second doses given out - 83.6% of 12 and over

3️⃣ 1,645,650 booster / third doses given out - 59.8% of 12 and over

🚨🚨 33% of patients with #Covid19 in acute hospitals in England are in for other reasons but happen to have Covid.

➡️ This has increased from around 25% since mid-Dec.

The % across all hospital settings could be as high as 42%. Image
I had included to this metric patients who catch Covid-19 within hospitals as the NHS website says this number (33%) relates to those who catch Covid-19 in the community.

Today they have confirmed it also includes those who catch in hospital. I have asked them to update website
The 33% relates only to those in acute hospitals. Acute care is where a patient receives active, short-term treatment for a condition.

There are patients with Covid-19 in settings such as community or mental hospitals. It is less likely patients here are being treated for Covid.

#Covid19 deaths continue to fall in the UK (see next tweet). There was a huge backlog to catch up on reporting over Xmas to the Daily Mirror create another huge misleading headline.

Regular occurrence for them at the moment.
Latest deaths when you look at when they occur not reported shown in this chart (bottom line)

Of 16,743 #Omicron cases in Germany just 1.4% of them reinfections.

➡️ Makes the Government decision to remove infection acquired immunity in the UK a suspicious ploy to increase vaccine uptake rather than scientific.

Data (Robert Koch Institute) -> rki.de/DE/Content/Inf…
Vaccine status known for 4,206 of which

◾️ 186 unvaccinated - 4.4%
◾️ 4,020 fully vaccinated (2 doses) - 68.5%
◾️ 1,137 had a booster (revaccinated) - 27.0%

Source -> rki.de/DE/Content/Inf…
Data suggests a previous Covid infection hugely superior to vaccination to avoid #Omicron.

🚨🚨 ‘Just got to be a bit of caution that some of the politicians are going out there misleading the public with some of the numbers’

➡️ Discussing with @SimonMcCoyTV the repeated claim 9 in 10 Covid patients in ICU unvaccinated - estimates put it at 48%
Good to see a news channel @gbnews allowing someone to challenge false information put out by their guests by talking through published facts.

Happy to appear and educate on other media outlets. Good Morning Britain is one of the worst for misinformation but ignored my offer.
Jeremy Vine blocked me when I offered to talk through the numbers on his public funded BBC show.

Very poor show this @franunsworth for a news outlet show.
