- research shows very limited if any specific advantage for marijuana (THC, CBD, etc) in treating any medical conditions. And to date, the FDA has not approved a marketing application for cannabis for the treatment of any disease or condition.
- there is some research that shows some applications in adjunct treatment of a rare kinds of epilepsy ( Lennox-Gastaut syndrome or Dravet syndrome) and also as an appetite stimulant in cancer, AIDS or Alzheimer’s patients.
-FDA only approved one cannabis-derived drug product: Epidiolex (cannabidiol), and three (similar) synthetic cannabis-related drug products: Marinol (dronabinol). However, the medical community (in US and abroad) unanimously agree that marijuana has no healing (cure) uses.
-Most promoted medical benefits of marijuana has no scientific or medical basis, and it falls under folk medicine, as the saying goes: “a herb that heals.” Basically “medical use” most of the time is a mere justification by those who use, trade or grow marijuana.
- Marijuana is a psychoactive drug that causes physical and psychological addiction and dependence. Numerous studies and surveys indicate that its use at an early age is a gateway for experimenting and addiction to dangerous narcotics.
- Many addiction specialists confirm that the majority of addicts to narcotic pills such as "OxyContin", "Norco" "Percocet", etc.. began their journey with addiction through marijuana.
- It poses a threat to the mental health of the abuser, as it increases the propensity for mental illness, especially mental disorders such as acute psychosis or schizophrenia in young people. Studies have also shown that it has an impact on IQ levels if abused at an early age.
- Economic Impact: Its known that a large part of commercial Realestate buyers at inflated prices (cash and almost double) are those who trade in marijuana. This will impact the ability of business owners to open and operate vital businesses that benefit the community. #dearborn
-Whoever wants to open a restaurant, office, clinic, etc, essential to the fabric of the community, will not be able to compete or invest and reap profits because of the high operation cost. This will empty our cities of needed bussiness that add convenience and value.
- it will lead to the degradation of the entrepreneurial ecosystem required for the prosperity of our cities. And to a decrease in tax revenues earned by cities, thus services in them will decline, and in the end home values will go down as well. #economy #marijuana
- owners of marijuana-growing warehouses attract young people to work in cultivation and care of plants, and pay inflated wages up to $40/ hour. This pulls away young adults from other jobs with lower wages, and creates a serious gap in the workforce in needed industries.
- Some teenagers have told us: “Why should I go to university and learn for years to become an engineer or a lawyer or a pharmacist, when I can earn similar or higher wages now, and without the hassle of studying?”
- What will happen to these young people in a few years when their role ends and they miss the opportunity to obtain an education or a skills to earn a living ? Are they going to plant potatoes? Or will it be tempting to engage in dealing or trafficking other types of drugs?
- Social Impact:
Many examples exist of the deliberate destructions of communities by disseminating marijuana and narcotics. African Americans were targeted in 70s; historically opium was disseminated in China, India and Egypt to corrupt and control the population by British
-Drugs destroys the fabric of society, as they lead to the destabilization and disintegration of the family, thus making the individual more vulnerable. This is on top of the alarming number of overdose related deaths among young individuals, where the first step was marijuana
- Marijuana and other drugs are major causes of Social diseases: such as family disintegration, high unemployment and school dropouts. In addition to higher crime rates, low enrollment in universities, and other problems that ultimately lead societies to destruction.
Religion’s position on the issue:

#religion #islam #Shia #sunni #Christianity #Judaism
- All religions unanimously discourage or prohibit drug use, trade, and promotion. The Islamic faith sees the trade and promotion of drugs as a form of causing corruption in the world (capital offense), and the use of narcotic substances or mind-altering substances as forbidden
- some individuals use religious fatwas that permit the cultivation of cannabis for medical use as a an excuse, and take advantage of these fatwas to trade in the substance. But
as mentioned earlier “the medical use is very limited”and the fatwas do not apply in this case.
- Blinded by high financial returns many “religious” Hajs rush to buy warehouses that are suitable for the cultivation of weed and then rent them at high prices to those who want to grow, thus becoming hidden or silent partners, thinking that they can escape Haram and shame.
- These pseudo-religious “marijuana Hajis” disregard the harm inflicted on our community, and the health and future of our children, by using religion as a means to reap material profit. In this case they are literally applying the saying “religion is the opium of the people.”
- We must ponder the grave consequences of this scourge on the health of our children, and its immediate and subsequent economic and social effects on our families and communities. It requires us to take a clear position and to fight back.
- To the “Marijuana Hajis”, the so called “community leaders”, pharmacists, doctors and real estate agents involved in this business we say: The health, well-being, and future of our children and community is far more important than the handful of money you care to make.
- we call on the elected city councils to take the necessary measures to prevent the spread of these warehouses and dispensaries in our cities, as it has been done by other cities.
- All of you have sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, grandchildren and relatives who are subject to the danger of drug abuse. and marijuana is a key to the world of addiction, so we are all required to take a clear and courageous stance before it is too late!
