/ 2021 was a train wreck for my personal life, but it was pretty great for me professionally - so in the spirit of optimism, here’s a little thread of the highlights.
/ @c2kittel and I wrote a neat little GRL paper about the fate of #Antarctic ice shelves at various levels of warming
/ I became a regular guest on @SkyNews#DailyClimateShow, and made my first live TV studio appearance since the start of the pandemic on the Great Debate
/ There was lots of coverage of the IPCC report that came out in August, and I chipped in to explain some of the most important points
/ I worked with friends old & new on some exciting collaborations (shout outs to @c2kittel, @AntarcticGlacie and @ClimateAdam), including this fun video about #SeaLevelRise that I made with Climate Adam:
/ I wrote up the final parts of my PhD work into 2 papers - part 1 is accepted and available as a pre-print here: essoar.org/doi/10.1002/es…
/ The @SEEMONSTER22 project launched! I've been working on this with an amazing creative and scientific team. It will reimagine an oil rig into a positive vision of the future in 2022
/ I’ve had some incredible mentors over the years, and this year I started repaying the favour, for instance becoming a @girlsgearingup mentor - more to come in 2022!
/ I was thrilled to be asked to give an invited talk at #AGU21 - and it was excellent to hear from & share ideas with friends and colleagues from across the world - including @tridatta@highlatitude@bricepynoel@_tslater
/ BUT! Also featuring in 2021 were some top fails, inc. many rejections, including not even getting an interview for a postdoc I thought I was pretty qualified for and returning to the drawing board for my book
/ More to learn and more to come in 2022 - Happy New Year folks!
