This unfair and unbalanced "reporting" is what set off this thread. 🧵 Dude doesn't know wtf he's talking about, relying on right wing reporting, smh. 🤦🏾♀️
Chicago SOCIAL WORKERS @SSWUChicago know what's up, @ChiPubSchools doesn't have social workers in every school either. Why push for in-person learning when many schools don't have social workers or nurses to help mitigate mental and physical health? 🤷🏾♀️
When @ChiPubSchools NURSES issued an official statement back in January 2021 about schools not being safe, where were @robbysoave and other right wingers? 👀
Did @robbysoave and right wingers miss reading about CPS NURSES' statement, many of whom who are also PARENTS, in @washingtonpost? Are they living in their own bubble?
Just perusing @CTULocal1 tweets tells a lot, like across @ChiPubSchools, 100 schools don't have full-time social workers and 180 schools don't have full-time nurses. That's not @CTULocal1's fault.
In South Shore (60649), where I live, it's predominantly Black. Here, @CTULocal1 provides the low, social worker and nurse to student ratios. Attending @ChiPubSchools in person doesn't provide necessary safety protocols every student should have, especially during a pandemic.
Wanting Nurses, Social Workers and Librarian and smaller class sizes at every @ChiPubSchools isn't asking too much, it's quite reasonable. @CTULocal1 had good reasons to strike in 2019. Don't right wingers believe ALL students deserve these basic things?
.@NationalNurses stood in solidarity with @CTULocal1, but right wingers didn't. Why focus on students learning in schools but ignore the constant denial of predominantly Black and Brown students' basic needs being met? 🤔
.@chicagosmayor won't prioritize funding basic @ChiPubSchools students needs during a pandemic in the City budget. That's not @CTULocal1's fault, either. If you're not in solidarity for providing students basic needs like nurses and social workers, which side are you on?
Why are right wingers ignoring PARENTS who are concerned about @ChiPubSchools safety during a pandemic? Parents who WANT remote learning when schools are unsafe are protecting their children!
FYI Starting Jan 3rd, #CPSSickOut PARENTS are ready to #SickOut2SaveLives!! They are demanding a remote option in response to surging Omicron cases. Below is an @RCMHealthcare Asst Nurse AND parent! Listen to parents and #PullEmOut! ✊🏾
ICYMI 413 @CTUBlackCaucus members, PSRPs and staff were awarded a $9.25M settlement after @RahmEmanuel disproportionately fired them while closing predominantly Black schools.
FYI Former @AssessorCook Joe Berrios perpetuated institutional racism by shifting the tax burden from wealthier, majority-white neighborhoods to poorer, minority ones."" YET @ChiPubSchools IN THOSE SAME OVERTAXED, MINORITY AREAS REMAIN DEFUNDED!? #FundCPS
Chicago's Black vaxx rates are low, 3rd shots/boosters are lower, but hospitalizations & deaths are highest. @ChiPubSchools opening in high/medium vulnerability areas in dirty schools w/o HEPA filters, full-time nurses/social workers, just isn't safe. 💯 chicago.gov/city/en/sites/…
If elected, you/@GOP won't hold employers of these low wage jobs that don't provide good benefits or pensions accountable, you just want Blacks mad at Latinos. You don't support Reparations for Blacks, #Fightfor15 or closing the #RacialWealthGap. #BlackPolitics#BlackVote#ADOS
