I’m almost certain Churches like Grace Life Church in Edmonton or Fairview Baptist Church in Calgary will use similar arguments to justify an increase in intensity for protests against Covid mandates. Not that our premier has allowed anything but minor protocols.

I’m more immediately concerned with how these events will influence France and US radicalized protesters. Omicron is going to create huge infrastructure gaps in food supply, essential services and fuel availability. Across the globe.

The far right will use the shortages to create outrage.

France’s presidential elections are in a matter of months. US is gearing up to remove the filibuster and impose new voting rights legislation.

The chaos in Kazakhstan couldn’t have come at a worse moment in time.

Funny how that works huh? Putin is sending in troops to help stabilize the situation.

This is textbook Russian subversion to overthrow a government.

Putin doesn’t care if a foreign government is authoritarian or democratic. Putin’s goal is to recreate the magnificence of the Soviet Union’s superpower by annexing former Soviet independent states & controlling & profiting from their natural resources.

Kazakhstan is a wealthy nation. It’s not surprising if wealthy capitalists of Kazakhstan refused to roll over and give Putin free access. Minerals, fossil fuels, arable land, fish. All enviable and profitable industries that oligarchs can exploit at the expense of citizens.

Kinda sounds like Canada in a way. Canada also has extensive natural resources to provide profits to wealthy foreign investors with no benefit to Canadian citizens.

Ukraine does as well, & Georgia (the nation), Belarus. I bet most of the Caucasus region has abundant resources.

How does a nation with an economy as small as Italy expand its national economy? Annex other nations with abundant natural resources.

The Soviet Union had a strong economy. Dissolution created a small Russian economy, while newly independent nations developed economic control.

So how does a nation adjust world order to their advantage without it costing more than the bounty they want to reclaim?

Subversion.

Russians have been using subversion and reflexive control for over 100 years. They’re quite good at it. They’ve had lots of practice.

Subversion requires a long game strategy. It takes a long time to create demoralization & destabilization by undermining an entire society’s norms, institutions and propagandize an entire generation with disinformation. Minimum 20-30 years of effort.

We called it the Cold War.

Russia has subversion down to a science. There are 4 stages of subversion active measures.
1. Demoralization
2. Destabilization
3. Crisis
4. Normalization

Demoralization is when a society’s culture & institutions are undermined. It takes time to shift culture. Far right think tanks have been conducting demoralization since the mid 1970’s. But don’t be fooled. It comes from the far left as well. Marxism & Anarchism.

One thing the Russians have perfected is the pincer move in hybrid warfare.

Remember the goal isn’t ideology, it’s control of natural resources and wealth extraction from the targeted nation.

So using both creates polarization and demoralization.

Destabilization is a much shorter time frame. It’s the introduction of populism, demagoguery, ochlocracy (mob rule).

Again the attack is from both extremes. The point is to destroy institutions and the public’s trust in them. It’s the creation of post truth. Cynicism.

Then comes a crisis to topple the social order. Revolt, violent protests, civil war, an unending pandemic, complete collapse of institutions.

There have been successive crises for the past 2 years. Yet western democracies have not toppled. But they’re perched precariously.

Seems western leaders are aware of these efforts being conducted by the far right, far left and foreign adversaries.

To combat subversion, leaders must deliver what the public requires to cope. CERB, Business loans, vaccines, PPE, effective policy.

When governments provide the economic and basic necessities, revolts and rebellions are avoided.

The cost of fuel is the straw that broke the camel’s back. Accumulated stressors have lead to a crisis represented by the increase in the cost of fuel. A non responsive government has paid the price of hubris.

Putin sends in troops to normalize and secure the resources.

The people and their welfare are not Putin’s concern. Gaining access to absolute control of the natural resources for exploitation and wealth extraction is the only interest. Suffering and loss of human life isn’t considered at all.

Kind of like premiers permitting omicron Covid to spread basically unmitigated in Canada. And let the strong survive. It’s irrelevant if society collapses. It’s just less resistors in the end.

Cons are using Russian tactics to undermine democracy and Canadian society.

There’s a reason PMJT called a snap election. Jason Kenney almost put this same strategy in motion in August 2021. The election reduced the carnage. But the premier disappeared for 3 weeks and let Delta spread uncontrolled. Collapsing healthcare to the point of triage.

Omicron will overtax our entire social infrastructure. If everyone gets sick at once, no institutions will have the capacity to keep providing essential supports and services.

I’ve spent 5 years trying to impart this was the con plan all along. But I’m a nobody.

The jokes on you. I called this exact outcome several years ago. Long before the April 2019 provincial election. I’m not clairvoyant. I’ve just studied fascism.

This is what fascism looks like. It’s not an ideology. It’s a set of behaviours to gain power. Those who will inherit Canadian resources don’t care one way or another about ideology. They just want unfettered access to extensive Canadian natural resources.

Reality sucks.

It’s a global oligarchy.

Not so daft after all. I have a lot of free time and an insatiable intellectual curiosity. So I read. A lot.

Welcome to dystopia. It’s been excruciating watching this unfold. Knowing it was coming and being ignored when attempting to warn people.

For $20M we could give every student, teacher and staff N95 masks for the rest of the year.

But it’s more important to fund the UCP war room instead. That’s how much kids and teachers rate on the UCP list of priorities. I.E. they don’t.
