Someone has asked me to compile a list of accessibility presentations for a non-technical #a11y beginner so I'll be doing a bit of posting on this thread over the next couple of days of some presentations that have stuck with me... if I can find them online.
Here's one of my all time favourites from the completely awesome @JamieKnight
Cognitive Accessibility 107 (beta)
Thanks @A11yLondon :)

Here's Richard Kurzik and @scarynige on the history of access services at the BBC from the BBC's GAAD...
...and a URL from hell...
#CC #accessibility

Here's @LeonieWatson on the Art of Noise. A great history of conversational interfaces and inclusive design.
Also from the BBC's GAAD, but can be found elsewhere.

I was invited by @id24 to introduce @leedaleyyz at last year's conference and it sparked off so many thoughts and questions.

#a11y #uxdesign
Some seem to have been lost in time. Two standout session, one from The Lumberjack @thebillygregory and The Viking @karlgroves at CSUN, probably 2017, has never left me but sadly I can't find it or any re-run :(
...
The other was by @fitzpatrickd called 'Don't Make Donal Angry.'
We spent 30 mins watching Donal try to book tickets for a @ManUtd game on several ticket booking sites, without any success.
The commentary was priceless and this is still one of the funniest demos I have ever seen.
There are sessions by the likes of @marcysutton and @heydonworks that are brilliant, but too technical for the brief... sorry.
Maybe I should ask you all for some suggestions to help me out?

Please, any suggestions for available presentations, preferable free, that are about #a11y or #inclusivedesign but are not technical.
Thank you :)
Here's one from just a few days ago. @ScopicEngineer is one of only a few people I know who's diving into the socioeconomics of #a11y. A subject we should all be thinking about.

Thank you @a11ynyc for making it available.
#a11y
Here's a great 101 introduction to Inclusive Design by @iheni from @BBCa11y GAAD in 2019.
#a11y #uxdesign
The BBC Live product generates absolutely massive URLs... which isn't great @bbcuxd
bbc.co.uk/events/e4vgfx/…
How big should Subtitles or Closed Captions be?
It's a straightforward question that @scarynige gave a great presentation about at GAAD.

I'm now realising how many great presentations I have seen over the years that have stuck with me were never filmed or published online :(
I Took An Arrow To The Knee... But I'm Still An Adventurer,
a standout talk from @cherryrae which was as a journey in itself.
Thanks to @GA_Conf

Here's another from the archives of @id24conf
Accessibility is dead.
Long Live Usability by @huijkman
I completely agree with the sentiment. This should be about designed experiences, not about picking up the pieces.

#uxdesign
Another one I'm looking for but can't find is one I saw at the EU Gov in Brussels, by professor Alan Newell or Dundee University on testing methodologies for age related barrier groups. It was brilliant, from who is arguably the father of broadcast closed captions.
Anyone?..
I'm starting to add heroes, so here is Chieko Asakawa
ted.com/talks/chieko_a…
She has achieved so much and has such a can-do attitude.
#a11y
Someone who always delivers on explaining the scale and overall big picture is @debraruh
Her @a11ynyc presentation paints a great picture of the scale of both the opportunity and the challenge we face as an industry.

#a11y
Apologies to @marcysutton as I remembered this one, but forgot who had presented it.
5 Things I Learned from the Accessibility Community

Sorry Marcy :/
Here's a fantastic one from @tfadell that isn't directly about accessibility, but summarises the approach perfectly so long as we accept that true #a11y is about designed experiences that meet human needs, and not just about ticking the compliance box.

ted.com/talks/tony_fad…
Accessibility isn't just about function, it's about emotion too.
This is summed up in Accessible Horror: Everyone is Entitled to One Good Scare @GA_Conf by presenters @TheSlasherChick @LadieAuPair and @momoxmia
I love a bit of horror. The thrill as well as the UX should be #a11y
...and whilst we are on the subject of gaming we need something to cover the old #a11y chestnut of Difficulty Vs Accessibility, presented by another old chestnut @ianhamilton_

Sorry Ian, I couldn't resist that.
Crap! I forgot the link to the video
#a11y #horror
@ianhamilton_
Where's the presentation @OneSwitch did on the history of games #a11y?

I loved that one even though it pointed out how old I am and how young most of the rest of the attendees were.
