UPDATE on the Ted Lieu/proxy vote/Bermuda cruise story. Lieu missed the Build Back Better vote that was held during the time he was heading to the NYC cruise terminal for his luxury Thanksgiving cruise (yea vote cast by proxy), but there's more... redstate.com/jenvanlaar/202…
His campaign spent $8,600 on airfare in one day, August 3, 2021, just a few weeks after this special, limited-time cruise series was announced by Crystal Cruises. That's nearly half of what he spent this yr and 4x what he spent in all of 2020.
For contrast, Adam Schiff's campaign spent $6,000 on travel during the same time period in 2021. fec.gov/data/disbursem…
Why was Ted's campaign spending so much on travel? He sent 5 proxy letters btwn Sep 2021 and Jan 2022 (including weekend he went to NFL game in LA) claiming he had to miss work due to the "ongoing public health emergency." And we don't see evidence of fundraisers/campaign travel.
Lieu's FEC filings don't list passengers, travel dates, travel purpose, anything. He owes us answers for this, and for why he's partaking in luxury international travel and playing hooky from work while a constituent was murdered by a homeless person. people.com/crime/woman-st…

But I thought that the China Initiative was a racist Trump plot and was really just targeting"ethical violations" that universities and scientific journals should be monitoring (as a cover for racism, of course)? redstate.com/jenvanlaar/202…
This dude had the stones to claim he "forgot" that he brought bags of US cash back FROM China and had $200k in a Chinese bank account, and that he'd lied to his employer abt it all. THEN he sued Harvard for not standing by him, claiming they exploited him. Really. /2
Now his attorney is pulling the "terminally ill" card. Spare me.

Now which other researchers have been traveling back and forth to China with stacks of $100 bills in their bags? And how does the CCP get all this US currency? /3

Seriously living the life today. Writing about corrupt a-holes, good music playing in my headphones, but I can still hear granddaughter playing in the next room. Don't pinch me; I don't want to wake up
Just letting YouTube do its thing...
Aww yeah. In a month I'll be in Cancun listening to @dariusrucker and @HootieTweets

wait... the prosecutor put the drone footage on a thumb drive to send to the state crime lab but didn't think that's how he should provide it to the defense?? WTF? Now he's blaming the software on Ms. Wisco's phone?! This is disturbing. #Rittenhouse
The defense doesn't have an obligation to ask you for the drone video on a thumb drive or compact disk or floppy disk, Mr. Prosecutor! You have an obligation to give them the EXACT EVIDENCE you received - and the way you do that is a portable storage device and checking file size

So, Twitter, is this @GavinNewsom? In the 1st pic, look to the right of the bride, to the couple in the 2nd row I think it is. Gavin and Jen, next to London Breed? In the 2nd pic, look behind the bride's dad. Bride is Ivy Getty. vogue.com/slideshow/insi…
Actually looks like it's third row.
And, if it is him and his wife - and it absolutely looks like it is - why all the secrecy over the last 11 or so days? Why not just say, "I'm going to an event on the anniversary of the French Laundry dinner that makes the French Laundry look positively pedestrian"?

This is a 100% serious question. Is there a method by which the legislature can compel the Governor's office to disclose the Governor's location and whether he is physically/mentally capable of running the state?
So, according to this, the legislature as a body can't do anything. The Commission on the Governorship, which is the Senate Pres, Assembly Speaker, UC President, CSU Chancellor, and Director of Finance, can inquire into such matters. Who are these ppl? law.justia.com/codes/californ…
Senate President Pro Tem = Toni Atkins, Dem
Speaker of Assembly = Anthony Rendon (who's in scotland)
UC President = Dr. Michael V. Drake ucop.edu/president/abou….
CSU Chancellor = Dr. Joseph I. Castro

Remembering the hour that, 3 years ago, I was powering down my computer to go to sleep but heard sirens blaring from the fire station next to my subdivision. They were headed to #Borderline where 12 innocent members of the community had been slaughtered.
I barely slept that night as it was quickly apparent that neighbors and lifelong friends were impacted. A dear friend lost her childrens' babysitter and youth leader, Noel Sparks, she'd hugged just hours earlier.
I recalled the evenings and birthdays I'd spent at Borderline, picturing the interior of the bar and imagining how people would try to escape the carnage quickly.
