Scared? Well, unfortunately that’s #BigOil & Gas’ goal, and the Globe is helping them with this piece. (4/14)
The reality is the industry has its back up against the wall as New England transitions towards #CleanEnergy via #ClimateLaws. Scaring you into thinking you won’t have energy is their pitiful, last-ditch attempt at condemning us to a #FossilFuel future. (5/14)
This isn’t a new trick. Every winter we hear the same song and dance from #BigOil, threatening rolling blackouts. But here’s the truth: New England has never experienced a winter blackout, and we’re unlikely to see one this year. (6/14)
Ironically, the polluting #FossilFuels that the industry claims can abate a horrific winter of no energy are the very same that cause #ClimateChange. The crisis which is directly linked to increasingly #SevereWeather they purportedly want to avoid. (7/14)
So why is this message so strong? Why do we hear it, unchanging, every year despite all the evidence that goes against it? (8/14)
The problem is that the industry is echoing our regional markets and grid operator’s (@isonewengland) anti #CleanEnergy message. ISO is the entity that controls how and what energy is bought and sold. (9/14) clf.org/blog/iso-new-e…
Every winter, @isonewengland cries wolf of rolling blackouts, legitimizing #BigOil & Gas’ fear mongering. They lobby for more #FossilFuel supply to solve this problem – directly contradicting New England’s #ClimateLaws and efforts towards a #CleanEnergy economy. (10/14)
It’s blatantly irresponsible for @isonewengland to fuel this fear mongering, and for outlets like the @BostonGlobe to simply regurgitate these pro-fossil fuel messages. (11/14)
We know better than to boil this down to a matter of “luck”. What we need is for more political action that supports #CleanEnergy, @isonewengland to step up on climate or step out of the way, & roadmaps that achieve our climate targets. (12/14)
So, as you take shelter during this upcoming storm, remember that #BigOil & Gas aren’t on your side. They use fear to fill their wallets while destroying our planet. (13/14)
The only way to avoid the worst to come is by transitioning to clean energy – for the sake of the people we love and the world around us. (14/14)

In my role @CLF, I often have to think about what our future looks like in Massachusetts. As the #ClimateCrisis looms over us, with impacts like increasingly frequent extreme weather, we know we have to do something – and do something now. (1/9)
And we know what we need to do. It’s time for us to leave behind the polluting fossil fuels at the root of #ClimateChange & transition to #CleanEnergy. #DirtyGas is one of those fuels responsible for the #ClimateCrisis. (2/9)
#BigGas like to tell us that they’re on our side: that they care about affordable bills, reliable service, and our safety. But the truth is, they’re out for profit first and foremost. (3/9)
