Why is interim #CPC Leader @CandiceBergenMP posing with convoy protestors and endorsing convoy participants? Why, per @MariekeWalsh , is she trying to make the protest Trudeau’s problem? A thread …
First: This protest is all about removing COVID restrictions. The People's Party of Canada is all about removing health restrictions. The only "partisan" symbols I've seen at this protest have been PPC flags
Second: Except for Bernier in the Beauce, no riding had more PPC voters than Bergen's riding of Portage-Lisgar. 9,790 people in her riding voted PPC -- or 21.6% in #elxn44.
In #elxn43 Bergen got 75% of the vote in Portage-Lisgar. In #elxn44, she got 50% and #PPC got 21.6%. Those were *her* voters that went PPC, most over vax mandates. Those are "her" people on Parliament Hill right now.
So, for Bergen, if you can get vaccine mandates to disappear, you drain a main motivator for the PPC and, drain the main motivation for the electoral threat she faced from the PPC in 2021.
Bonus: The PPC's second biggest result in #elxn44 was right next door to Portage-Lisgar, in Provencher where #CPC MP @MPTedFalk won but the PPC notched 16.7% of the vote. -30-

It is notoriously difficult to track every federal loan, grant, and handout. They are announced via canada.ca, via dept Web sites, and via several newswires. (All tracked by @Ottawaspends Deets: globalnews.ca/news/3600967/t… ) But, in my view, ... 2/
.. the @TrueNorthCentre data set is incomplete. Here, from my #OttawaSpends database, is the summary of all fed grant/loan/handouts announced since Jun 20 (up to yesterday) from all wires, etc. I have QC getting 40% of the funds with AB getting 8%. 3/
A review of a busy 10 days in the vacant riding of Chicoutimi--Le Fjord, vacant after a Liberal MP who won it by a handful of votes quit. No by-election called yet but, my oh my, this riding is attracting significant federal (Liberal) interest. 1/ in 2015
