The anti-Trudeau advocacy group @WeAreCanProud is pushing a data project of @TrueNorthCentre (a project of conservatives @CandiceMalcolm @anthonyfurey and @AndrewLawton and others) that says QC has received 62% of @Ottawaspends funds since the HoC rose and that AB has got >0.1%
It is notoriously difficult to track every federal loan, grant, and handout. They are announced via canada.ca, via dept Web sites, and via several newswires. (All tracked by @Ottawaspends Deets: globalnews.ca/news/3600967/t… ) But, in my view, ... 2/
.. the @TrueNorthCentre data set is incomplete. Here, from my #OttawaSpends database, is the summary of all fed grant/loan/handouts announced since Jun 20 (up to yesterday) from all wires, etc. I have QC getting 40% of the funds with AB getting 8%. 3/ 
The QC number is inflated by one huge announcement -- a federal commitment to spend $1.4B over 10 years on a subway extension. Back that single project out of the data, and now QC is getting 6% and AB is getting 12% of federal funds distributed. 4/
Every single one of the announcements that goes into the above summaries is published at @Ottawaspends but here is what I have in my my database for the $307m announced for Alberta since June 20. 5/5
@TrueNorthCentre CORRECTION: "Incomplete" is the wrong word here: Rather, @TrueNorthCentre applies a different counting rule. It counts funds announced here canada.ca/en/global-affa… while I do not add until those funds are distributed or committed. (Otherwise, TNC's data matches mine closely.
