Should we be masking children? should we be quarantining our kids? And should we be treating them as disease vectors?
The evidence is overwhelming that it is well past time to give our kids a normal life back.
- Seasonal flu is deadlier -

Pediatric #COVID hospitalization rates are very similar to past flu seasons. One could argue that the rates are actually lower as studies have show around 40 percent of kids in the hospital are there for other reasons.

A study published in the peer-reviewed journal Hospital Pediatrics finds nearly 40% of COVID-19 cases were asymptomatic and about 45% of those hospital admissions were categorized as unlikely to be caused by the virus. usatoday.com/story/news/hea…

As of September 2021, the CDC estimated at least 1/3 of children had been infected. This was in the middle of the Delta wave and before the highly contagious Omicron strain. The number is probably well over 50 percent by now yet deaths are still lower than most flu seasons.
4/x
There has been zero excess all-cause deaths in kids. That means that there has not been any increase in deaths when compared to past trends. This is happening when every other age group has seen significant excess death. Compare the 0-17 bracket to the general population. 5/x
So #Covid_19 is proven to be as a whole mild in children, but what about Long Covid or MIS-C?
MIS-C accounts for just under 7,000 cases and 59 deaths. This accounts for probably 0.02 percent of all pediatric #COVID19 cases.

So what impact has our mitigation efforts had on kids?
The number of E.R. visits for suspected suicide attempts by 12- to 17-year-old girls rose by 51
percent from early 2019 to early 2021, according to the CDC. 8/x nytimes.com/2022/01/04/bri…
Overweight or obesity increased among 5-11-year-olds from 36.2% to 45.7% during the pandemic, an absolute increase of 8.7% & relative increase of 23.8%.” 9/x jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…
The incidence of type 2 diabetes in children appears to have doubled during the COVID-19 pandemic, data from two new US studies suggest. 10/x
Per the CDC, children's mental health-related ER visits have skyrocketed in 2020. Up 24% for ages 5-11, and Up 31% for ages 12-17 over April-October 2019. 11/x
Pediatric psychiatrists say they’re seeing children with coronavirus-related phobias, tics
and eating disorders, obsessing about infection, scrubbing their hands raw, covering their
bodies with disinfectant gel and terrified of getting sick from food. 12/x apnews.com/article/global…
Please everyone who reads this thread, put aside your politics and lets fight for our children! enough is enough! no more government sponsored child abuse in the US!
Let's talk kids and #covid because the media and government keep telling us that covid is extremely serious in children and that they have to wear a mask 8 hours a day in school. In fact both the @AmerAcadPeds and the @CDCDirector want two year olds in masks.

lets look at mortality first... #covid has killed around 360 children since last March. This sounds like a lot and every death is a tragedy, but regular seasonal influenza (which has a vax with 60% uptake in kids) routinely kills over 400. H1N1 in '09 killed over 1,000 kids. 2/x
And remember, the 360 pediatric deaths is over the course of not one but two flu seasons. So as far as mortality is concerned, #covid is far milder than the seasonal flu. 3/x
1/x Lets do a deep dive into the data behind the #COVID19 pandemic and why it is both way overhyped and why it is ending. First let us look at one of the best ways to evaluate the true effect of a pandemic - excess all cause mortality. @MLevitt_NP2013@EthicalSkeptic
2/x As we can see in the graph, excess mortality is falling rapidly and is at or near normal levels for the first time since last March (data lag plays into the last few data points). 1/4 of the excess mortality can be attributed to our response and not #COVID19@BenMarten
3/x Let's look at the 2nd graph again, for the past two months, if we subtract all of the #COVID19 deaths, the US would see a very abnormal low level of all cause deaths. What this means is that a lot of the covid deaths are in people who were dying anyways. We can see this in IL
