How @AxieInfinity and @YieldGuild can save the world.

(Why the world is broken... and how crypto could help fix it.)

#AxieInfinity #P2E #P2Egaming

a 🤯🧵👇
Axie Infinity, as you know, is a game where players breed, battle, and trade digi-pets called Axies.

The goal is to earn Small Love Potions - SLPs.

SLPs can be traded for other cryptos and traded for fiat.

Thus, the "play-to-earn" model.

#P2E #P2Egaming #playtoearn
It became bigly popular in "developing" countries like the Philippines, which were hit hardest during the COVID lockdowns.

This awesome Coindesk article by @leah_cb goes into more detail:
coindesk.com/business/2021/…
What's most fascinating about Axie is the models that emerged after.

Namely @YieldGuild.

Because Axies were becoming expensive, guilds formed to buy and lend out these NFT assets to "scholars"

#YGG shares in the revenue while the scholars learn how to play the game & earn
Meanwhile, everyone who participates in the @YieldGuild - investors, players, members, etc. - get to benefit from the growth of #P2E.

This is unlike trad business models where all value is sucked to the top.

AND

It may be the start of a revolution in how companies form.
That's right.

Whether @YieldGuild knows it or not, it has stumbled upon something revolutionary.

Two things actually:

1.] The scholarship model: people can earn money while learning AND making a real contribution

2.] Edge ownership: all who participate benefit from growth
Imagine if our schools ran this way.

(Empowering students with $, skills, and confidence.)

Imagine if this was how science was led.

(Decentralizing funding, discovery, innovation, and breakthroughs.)

Imagine if this was how ALL businesses work.

(Move ownership to edge.)
Consider...

Life is a game & we are the players. Without knowing it, we play by the rules of the game's paradigm.

Today we live in a War Game Society (WGS)

Governments simulate war games. People simulate them in their minds, too.

The point is to win, dominate, and control.
Our current paradigm tells us there's not enough for everyone.

It says Earth is inadequate to support all life. (Malthusian)

We are constantly being told - in subtle and unsubtle ways - that in order for some to win, others must lose.

The "source code" of our game is zero-sum.
Crypto is a "World Game" technology - a paradigm shift.

All of a sudden, there's enough. It's just a problem of distribution

With "win-win-win" models like the one @YieldGuild has created...

We can "distributize" science, business, design, manufacturing, agriculture, and more
We can move from War Game Society

To a "World Game Society"

A positive-sum, infinite game focused on making the world work for 100% of humanity, without ecological offense.

The goal goes from "how do I win"

To "how do WE win"

The focus...

& the north star...

is #WAGMI
That's how @AxieInfinity and @YieldGuild can save the world.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

#WAGMI
Stay tuned for more on the World Game Society.

And how we can "make the world work for 100% of humanity, in the shortest possible time, through spontaneous organization, without ecological offense or the disadvantage of anyone."

Why the #Metaverse is kinda' dumb...

And how it can save the world.

(or, everyone is missing the true potential of the metaverse)

a thread
🧵👇
What's the metaverse?

Some define it as a persistent 3D universe (or multiverse) that allows users to meet, game, and socialize in virtual spaces.

Some will say it's basically a 3D virtual social media with games, meeting rooms, clubs, and cities.

I hope they're wrong
The true potential of the metaverse goes beyond what you see in the movie Ready Player One.

After all, Ready Player One is dystopian. The world has gone to shit.

People live in slums.

They use the digital world to escape the physical world.

It's a pretty depressing movie

Crypto is eating the world.

Perhaps the most interesting trend right now:

NFT projects are becoming global brands.

For example, #BAYC is now a globally-recognized brand with a market cap of almost $3 billion.

What does this mean? Where are we headed?

👇🧵
Consider, everyone who owns a Bored Ape has commercial rights to that ape.

Meaning, they can produce their own clothing, TV shows, and more.

Creative Artist Agency (CAA), the largest talent agency in Hollywood, has a Bored Ape as a client.

That's insane.
This model has turned Bored Apes into a marketing machine.

Cryptopunks, by the way, don’t give commercial rights. They are instantiated into crypto art history, so they don't need it.

But I think it's the reason why BAYC flipped punks.

But here’s why this is interesting…

Crypto, "Idea Sex," & the Rise of Decentralized Science #DeSci 🧵🧵🧵👇

How will crypto accelerate innovation in the real world?

How will they change science? Architecture? Engineering? Biology?

One word: Decompartmentalization.

A thread...

👇👇 👇
Decentralization is a popular buzzword in crypto.

For good reason.

But decentralization is just what happens on the surface.

The ripple effects are:

--> Decompartmentalization
--> Dematerialization
--> Deinstitutionalization

In this thread, we'll unpack the first one.
DECOMPARTMENTALIZATION

Science is notoriously compartmentalized. Why? Because it operates under a military model.

In fact, all our systems operate under a military model -- from schools to research departments to local governance.

It's what I call the "War Game Society"
