⚠️WARNING: Profane language.

My camera operator and I get swarmed by protesters and followed — after an interview with police media relations.

Officers escort us to our vehicle after we receive verbal threats.

It only gets worse.

The crowd closes in on our unmarked Global News vehicle.

Tough to drive out. We’re caught between an angry crowd and a ditch.

#bcpoli #truckerconvoy
The protesters surround our vehicle and start banging on it. One man spits at our window.

Police have to push crowd back so we can try and get out.

We finally do.

Similar situation took place when the CBC team tried to report on the rally — and @DanBurritt is one of the most patient and understanding reporters I know. #bcpoli #TruckerProtest
Apologies to our viewers, we made genuine attempts to speak to protesters and tell their stories.

But most had already made up their minds about us and wouldn't take part in civil dialogue. Thank you the few who had meaningful conversations with us.

#BREAKING: Police have informed me they've opened up an investigation related to the treatment of media members at today's protest — and are looking to speak to the individuals involved.

RCMP's Serious Crimes Branch is investigating.

Our TV story for @GlobalNews 6 pm newscast tonight.

Protesters in support of #Ottawa convoy clash with anti-convoy rally, police and media.

Shocking video by @CTVVancouver of 2 protesters spitting on CBC’s reporter and camera operator.

Interim Chief Steve Bell says the "methodical" plan to end the protests has moved "slowly and safely."

He says officers have been professional in the face of "taunts, slurs towards them." #cdnpoli #ottawa #ottawaconvoy
Interim Chief Bell says so far there have been no need to use Children's Aid to assist kids in the crowd.

He says it "shocks and surprises" him that they've seen children "put in harm's way" during the operation.

1/7 This Twitter.com website can occasionally be used to create some wondrous things.

Tonight, it fostered an idea that resulted in the creation of a tool — that can allow people to find the closest vaccine clinic to them by sending out a simple text. #covidontario
2/7 Earlier, I RT'd @JProskowGlobal, who highlighted a vaccine-clinic search tool only available in the US.

The concept is simple: you text your postal code to a number and it replies with vaccine clinics nearby.

Yet, Canada doesn't have this tool.
Without missing a beat, @ZainManji replied — offering to build one for Ontario.

I assumed it would take a few days.

I even asked if he was up for an interview on his new creation as early as Monday, thinking it would probably need more time than that.
