Trans rights are still under attack in the United States. Please go to transformationsproject.org to learn about your state and contact your reps. Here's a brief thread of today's updates. It's a long one 🧵
Georgia SB435 has crossed over to the House. This is an anti-trans sports bill that would divide athletic participation by “biological sex”. This is defined by a person’s “reproductive biology and genetics at birth”, and can be determined by their unchanged birth certificate.
Florida H1557 has crossed over and is in the Appropriations Committee in the Senate. This is the famous "Don't Say Gay" bill that prohibits classroom discussions about sexual orientation or gender identity in primary schools.
Arizona HB2161 has crossed over to the House. This bill would require that all school records be made available to parents and mandate that schools gain written permission from parents before teaching students about sex, sexuality or gender.
Arizona SB1138 has also crossed over to the House. This bill bans surgeries done for transition purposes on minors (under the age of 18). The bill also specifically allows for "corrective" procedures for intersex traits.
Alabama SB184 has passed the Senate and is in committee in the House. This bill bans all trans-affirming medical care for minors, including puberty blockers. It also mandates that school officials out trans children to their parents, even if the child is unsafe at home.
Maryland HB757 has passed the Senate and is in committee in the House. This bill would separate school athletics based on "biological sex", and provides no guidance as to how that is to be determined. This leaves opportunities for abuse of the system and of children.
Indiana HB1041 is preparing for the final vote before it goes to the governor's desk. This is a standard anti-trans sports bill that would ban "biological males" from competing in girls sports. How "biological sex" is to be determined is unclear, leaving opportunities for abuse..
..We urge you all to contact your representatives to stop this bill if possible, as now is the critical time to prevent this bill from passing.
It's not too late to stop these and other hateful anti-trans bills. Please go to transformationsproject.org to learn about bills in your state and contact your representatives to #StepUpForTransKids!

Minnesota HF352 added Bob Dettmer as a sponsor. This is an anti-trans sports bill that would exclude trans girls from playing school athletics by saying athletics be divided by "biological sex" determined by a doctor's examination. This places an undue cost on girls' athletics.
Minnesota HF1657 added Bob Dettmer as a sponsor. This is another anti-trans sports bill that defines "biological sex" to be determined by chromosomes. It also requires that all communal changing rooms, restrooms, etc be divided based on "biological sex".

The anti-trans legislative crisis is still ongoing and the rights of trans people are under threat in the United States. Here's a thread of today's updates. 🧵
Indiana HB1041 has passed the senate committee, and is now going to the floor. This is an anti-trans sports bill that would mandate that school athletics be separated based on "biological sex". The bill defines such vaguely, likely relying on birth certificates.
Alabama HB170 has crossed over and been assigned to the Judiciary Committee. This bill would define any surgery performed for someone under the age of 19 to their "female" genitalia as FGM (Female Genital Mutilation), effectively banning bottom surgery for these people.
