2/The referendum will not represent the will of the people. Lukashenko's reckless behavior of is threatening the lives of the people of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and all neighboring countries. Nuclear weapons will not keep anybody safe and a nuclear escalation can't be contained.
3/ The referendum shows that as long as nuclear weapons exist, so does their threat of use . Nuclear war cannot be contained and has to be avoided under all circumstances. International law must be respected, nuclear weapons must be eliminated. icanw.org/report_no_plac…

[2/3] Nigeria was "honored to join other countries in the core group to co-sponsor the resolution that led to the adoption of the [#TPNW]," and calls upon "other member states who have yet to sign and ratify the [#nuclearban] treaty to follow suit".
