As a young Political Affairs Officer @UN Headquarters in New York in the early 1990s I learnt the concept of "ripeness" in conflict resolution - that disputes are most effectively settled when the timing is ripe. The time is ripe in 2023 to defeat APCPDP and reclaim our country
for a better future for our children. The "film show" today in the so-called "major parties" that have made life in Nigeria a sad spectacle point to this fact. It's just left to us as citizens and voters to execute the country de grace and retire the failed, corrupt politicians.
A #ThirdForce can win in 2023 if Nigerians DECIDE to liberate themselves from failed politics and failed governance. It's as simple as #ADC

As recently as 7/8 years ago, I would have reacted with disdain and disgust if you had suggested that I would ever enter the murky waters of Nigerian politics. But some things made me change my mind and to realize there’s no other place to make the real change we want happen.
First, I find the level of poverty in Nigeria heartbreaking. Why, I ask myself, should a country with so much potential be so poor? Answer: because it suffers from a lethal combination of incompetent governance, industrial scale corruption and willful mis-governance.
Sometime in 2017 I delivered a lecture at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs in Lagos. After the lecture people surrounded me expressing appreciation for the insights the lecture gave them. But several people, including an old friend who was decidedly a university

I remember when I finished NYSC @Shell_Nigeria in the late 80s and was working at Newswatch, then Nigeria's leading newsmagazine. I was planning to japa abroad for a master's and then on to an international career. A close friend offered me the possibility to become the company
secretary of a new bank in Lagos. That would have taken me on the path to become a Lagos big boy. I declined and stuck to my plans to go abroad and return home much later. "You are very idealistic my friend" he said sarcastically. "Sit down and let's make money together in Lagos"
I left Nigeria for graduate study, and then on the #UN for 17 years and then leaving and founding a risk management and strategy consultancy in Geneva. 19 years after my conversation with my friend I was headhunted back to Nigeria in 2009 as Deputy Governor of @cenbank

My Nigeria Unity Agenda: Here’s how, as President, I will unify Nigeria, reunite Nigerians, and kill ethnic tensions:
1. Ensure structural justice and equity and increase economic opportunities in all parts of Nigeria. Support #Restructuring back to real federalism.
2. Fairness to all: Equal treatment under the law (no sacred cows, regardless of ethnic/religious affiliation).

3. Transparency. A leader builds trust when he/she has no hidden agenda and this is obvious in leadership actions and policy.

4. Patriotism education and propagation
of a vision of Nigeria that creates unity of purpose amongst all Nigerians. This will also be propagated using mass and social media (no “Twitter Ban”, instead we will use social media for national healing).

There are many profiles in courage in the #EndSARS and #LekkiMassacre2020 . The many young men and women who marched peacefully and occupied the toll gate, singing the national anthem and waving our country's flag. The victims who gave their lives for their country.
Then those who played specific, special roles during/after the crisis such as @dj_switchaholic (who exposed the Massacre live) @SavvyRinu @AbdulMahmud01 , members of the Lagos State Judicial Panel who, against all odds and lies from the seats of power, spoke the TRUTH.
Our country owes them all.. I commend them.. Looking back years from now, #EndSARS and the #LekkiMassacre will be the recognized as the seed of the liberation of Nigeria's youth and the country’s citizens from the tyranny and selfishness of Nigeria's corrupt political elite.

orders for the extrajudicial killings — as well as those who pulled the trigger — must pay for their crimes with prosecution and punishment.

Until we take back our power in our struggling democracy, instead of surrendering it to the money and “structures” of political oligarchs, we will keep complaining about bad governance. We’re the voters, therefore na we be the “structure”, therefore na we suppose decide!
Good political organization matters. Any serious candidate must work on that.But that’s a different thing from us as people suspending what must be our serious judgment about who is the better CANDIDATE for an office, and then voting for corrupt, incompetent life time politicians
because they have “structure”. And then complain that our country is in bad shape. Who put it in bad shape? Us, in the beginning, by allowing the wrong persons to be at the helm. By our decisions, or the reluctance to decide in favor of competence and vision.
