#CaroleCadwalladr, seen here with her friend, the "ex-spy" Christopher Steele, has evidently been ordered to re-heat the #Skripal #Salisbury #novichok story (which Steele was involved with) because of the "biolabs" found in #Ukraine. So let's deconstruct her #disinformation. 1/11
#CaroleCadwalladr has long been known to be associated with UK intelligence. Documents reveal her connection to the discredited 'Integrity Initiative', a project intended to build a network of client journalists to promote the establishment's agenda. 2/11
This is the article we'll quickly look at, which #CaroleCadwalladr had published in The Observer today. We will see that she is the antithesis of an investigative journalist, carefully avoiding the important questions about stories like the #Skripals. 3/11 theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/m…
#CaroleCadwalladr begins with some widely shared and believed #disinformation. The first person to cast doubt on Cadwalladr's bald assertion here that #Putin ordered the #Salisbury #novichok attack was the PM at the time, Theresa May. May's early statement was then ignored. 4/11
Years ago The Guardian/Observer used to employ real investigative journalists instead of people working for the establishment. One of the best, @Bynickdavies, explains here the significance of May's #Skripal statement and what it means for journalism. 5/11
#Cadwalladr says #Salisbury is the heart of the British military. She can't acknowledge that the two Russians humiliated themselves on RT, so turns that on its head. But maybe she'd say it explains why the army's most senior nurse found the #Skripals. 6/11
#Cadwalladr would never ask how these two "Russian soldiers", apparently active for years, were able to get into the UK. Is there a record of their visa applications? Carole doesn't care. She doesn't care that there's no footage of them approaching #Skripal's house. And... 7/11
...she doesn't care that the bottle she says the Russians threw away - and turned up ~four months later, miles away in Amesbury - was boxed and sealed in plastic as new according to Charlie Rowley, who apparently found it in his flat. Carole would *never* ask such questions. 8/11
It was almost four months later (#Salisbury 4 Mar; #Amesbury 30 Jun). More importantly Rowley didn't "fish" the bottle out of a bin. This is a false narrative that it's Carole's job to re-enforce. In fact Rowley has no idea where the bottle came from. 9/11
Carole mentions #Trump but omits that the CIA lied to him about this case. The #Skripals fed bread to ducks in #Salisbury shortly after their hands had touched this weapon of mass destruction. No ducks were hurt, but the CIA told Trump they'd died. 10/11
I could go on, but from here #Cadwalladr develops an attack on the UK government for its Russian connections, having done the job of establishing in the minds of Guardian readers that the #Skripal narrative is beyond question. This fake, limited opposition is her function. 11/11

I looked at the book 'We Are #Bellingcat' by Eliot Higgins. It's full of falsehoods and lies of omission about the #Salisbury #Skripal #novichok incident. It's weakest around the sequence of events when the #Skripals were actually poisoned, as we'll see.

A longish thread: 1/18 Image
Higgins opens with the #Skripals in hospital, "pumped full of atropine". Atropine is toxic and generally given in large doses only if organophosphate poisoning is diagnosed. Higgins omits that there was *no such early diagnosis* at the hospital.

Higgins says Russian agents would've found #Skripal by tracking Yulia's phone. He omits that Skripal had lived in Salisbury *under his own name for years* and his house was registered in his name at the Land Registry. He had made no attempt to hide.

I've read several books dealing with the case of the #Skripals so you don't have to: '#Skripal Files' ; 'Russians Among Us' ; 'Killer in Kremlin' ; 'Toxic' . But I'd missed this one: 1/12

'From Russia With Blood' by @HeidilBlake. Like the other books it's full of falsehoods; they're mostly in the intro. I'll deal with them briefly.

When the #Skripals were admitted to hospital after being found on the bench, Blake says: "Doctors were initially perplexed". 2/12
This is a lie. The doctors weren't perplexed. Like the paramedics who responded to #Skripals, they diagnosed a drugs overdose and treated them for this (this is not "coincidentally" the same treatment as for nerve agent or organophosphate poisoning). 3/12 odysee.com/@SkripalVids:2…

This Ch4 "fact check" article from 2018 about the #Skripal case is a great example of how fake journalists serve power instead of democracy: here defending then-foreign sec Boris Johnson after he lied to the world about #novichok.

Let's take a look. 1/10 channel4.com/news/factcheck…
The journalist, @martinrw, now works for @openDemocracy and has contributed to @TBIJ, haunt of the Integrity Initiative-linked @jamesrbuk. . Like Ball and Cadwalladr, Williams affects concern about "creeping authoritarianism". 2/10 https://t.co/wAVvbFI5o8pdf-archive.com/2018/12/13/ski…

Boris Johnson lied about #novichok at a critical time: two weeks after the poisoning of the #Skripals. Speaking to German outlet DW, he said "the guy" at UK biolab Porton Down (PD) told him "there's no doubt" the nerve agent allegedly used in #Salisbury was made in Russia. 4/10

The lack of WMD in Iraq was a disaster for the organised criminals calling themselves British intelligence. They destroyed a sovereign nation and hundreds of thousands of civilians, but they also destroyed their reputation. To stop this happening again, they needed a plan. 1/8 Image
The plan was to use a third party to launder their lies into the press via client journalists. That way, if the lies were later exposed, the organised criminals calling themselves British intelligence would not be directly implicated. They soon found a candidate: Bellingcat. 2/8 Image
Bellingcat, lauded by the client journalists, was used to present fake stories like chemical weapons in Syria and the Skripal poisonings to the press as if it was "open source intelligence". But a problem began to emerge: the people involved with Bellingcat were quite stupid. 3/8 Image

A list of former US ambassadors, ex-senators, ex-presidents of the World Bank, Atlantic Council types. One of them, Simon Clark, is chair of the "Center for Countering Digital Hate", cited in a BMJ article calling for censorship of covid "disinformation". fp4america.org/our-leadership
Clark is among other things a member of the Atlantic Council's Digital Forensic Research Lab. He "trained at Price Waterhouse" and "built the original internet presence for Reuters". He is - it is no surprise to discover - essentially an investment banker. atlanticcouncil.org/expert/simon-c…
Accordin to LinkedIn, for seven years Clark was the director of QUMAS, an Irish company providing "compliance software for the pharmaceutical and other regulated industries". He sold it for $50m in 2013. siliconrepublic.com/business/accel…

NO-ONE WAS KILLED BY #NOVICHOK IN #SALISBURY (1/6)

How can say this? Three reasons.

1. The chemical was not confirmed to be "novichok". Porton Down said it had found novichok in the #Skripal blood samples, but in court PD's expert wouldn't confirm this.
The #OPCW was careful not to explicitly identify #novichok in its analysis of the blood samples it received from the UK. It hedged its language in a strange way, merely saying it "confirmed" the UK's findings relating to the identity of the chemical. (2/6)
2. Nobody knows where the bottle of #novichok that turned up 4 months later in a flat in #Amesbury 8 miles away from #Salisbury, came from -- least of all Charlie Rowley, who supposedly found it. There's no evidence the bottle was ever in #Salisbury. (3/6)
