The Supreme Court of India will hear a plea regarding compensation in case of death due to COVID-19. #Covid19

SG Mehta: Your Lordships may direct the victims to file compensation claims within 4 weeks as per the directions in the last order.

Court: we will direct, but you've not filed an application as we asked for on the last date of hearing.

Court: last time also you said the same thing.

Mehta: it was my mistake, I'll file the application by tomorrow. Your lordships may take it up day after tomorrow.

For state of Assam, Advocate Deeksha Rai appeared to seek clarification whether to distribute compensation among the children.

Court: Our order is very clear, it'll be Rs. 50,000/death. If both the parents have died then 50,000 for each death. Please withdraw your application.

Court: By when will you file the application? You also need to file regarding the fake deaths claim.

Mehta: I'll file it by tomorrow and I'll include both the things.

Shah J: "We never visualised that this kind of fake claims could come. It's a pious world. We never thought this scheme could be misused. And if officials are involved it makes it even worse."

Now, Senior Advocate Basant appears and suggests random examination of the compensation claims by the state legal services Authorities.

Court: the centre will need to file a detailed application in this regard and then we will hear you Mr. Basant.

Order: Centre to file an application in the matter by tomorrow as the Learned Solicitor General said in the court. We will hear the matter on next Monday.
