"Yogas citta vritti nirodhah": The restraint of the modifications of mind stuff is yoga
Real yoga isn't downward dogs
It's completely reorienting your life around union with all and ultimately seeing the inner happiness we all have
What the yoga sutras realized is that happiness is from quieting the mind, not giving into it.
The mind is a bully...it torments us with desires, attachments, likes, dislikes and aversions all day.
When you give into the mind it will reward you with some pleasure, but like a hungry ghost it is insatiable -- It will never be enough.
Giving into the mind only makes the mind MORE active, veiling your inner peace further.
However, when you quiet the mind the innate peace and happiness we all have starts to shine.
The "happiness" you think you get from your favorite sport, sitting on the beach, relationships, sex, etc. isn't really from the thing itself but from your mind finally shutting the f up
But it's possible to tap into that on a moment to moment basis once you learn how.
It just requires you completely reorient your life and the locus of your attention...
Most things people do on a daily basis only agitate the mind further.
Therefore happiness requires that you go completely AGAINST many of your inner base instincts and habitual behaviors.
For yoga this is the 8 fold path, but many religions have something similar.
All of the fancy yoga poses we know about today were not to grow a bigger booty or be more flexible...
They were actually so that you could finally quiet your body enough to sit still for hours on end and contemplate what's higher.
Here are some more practical tips of things I do that help quiet my mind:
- act virtuously -- any time you hurt others, or indulge in selfish behaviors, it ruffles the mind
- meditate as much as you can
- stretch, mobility, still the body
- minimize social media usage (yes, I know, ironic)
- turn off the news
- stop giving into selfish desires when they stem from lack --> meaning if you think you want to swipe on dating apps because you're alone and worthless, DONT do it.
- eat easily digestible foods
- go to bed early
- stop the tendency to define yourself in so many different ways --> you just make yourself a prisoner to your own thoughts
- see that you are not your thoughts, you are the one who hears them
- Be friendly towards happy people, compassionate towards unhappy people, delight in the virtuous people and disregard the wicked ones
- Study sacred texts / higher texts daily
- work a job you're proud of
- sun your genitals & have a silly goose time

Testosterone is tanking and society is mirroring its decline.
Don't even think about doing TRT until you try these things:
1. Sun your balls.
You all know the drill.
Every cell & organ can benefit from the sun, especially the testes.
Mitochondria need red / NIR to function optimally. UV light stimulates vitamin D which is critical for T production.
Let the sun shine where the sun don't shine.
2. Vitamin A
Vitamin A is one of the rate limiting steps in T synthesis. Vitamin A combines with thyroid and cholesterol to produce pregnenolone, a ptrecursor to T.
It is is not how much beef liver you'll eat today...or what vegetable you'll toss in the trash....
It's what a truly good life means for you.
We live in the age of nihilism. People that have all the trappings of success...everything they could possibly imagine...yet fuller medicine cabinets than ever before in history.
It is because they haven't answered this question
People have no real reason to live...instead modern domesticated humans are chasing a carrot on the stick with no idea where they're going.
“You should work hard”. “You should be educated” “You should be healthy”. Sure. But why?
