1/ Being a curious individual such I am, I often find myself fascinated by upcoming #web3 trends and topics. I recently acquired an NFT that it’s not your typical pfp. It is a changing NFT and today I’m talking about #dynamicnfts and the smooth example of @rubberduckBP

2/ The majority of NFT I’m used to (but I guess most of us are) are #staticnfts. It doesn't refer to the actual nature of the artwork. Videos, gifs, and others are still static nfts, while being dynamic in their form. A static nft though will remain unchanged over time.

3/ An NFT has 3 main core components: 1, the #smartcontract, which interacts with the blockchain and sets the parameters. 2, the actual NFT with a unique ID token. 3, the #metadata stored in the NFT, which defines the artwork and actually displays it.

4/ What differentiates a dynamic NFT from a static one is the possibility to update the #metadata. The NFT’s dynamic properties may be upgraded over time, making the original art (or else) evolve into something new, while still leaving the uniqueness of the token intact.

5/ E.g. Pak's #Merge. This astonishing project pivots around the concept of #mass, and the possibility to merge new mass with the already owned one. Acquiring more mass automatically raises the value of the owned one while creating scarcity. Original NFT is changing in size. 🧨

6/ @ogcrystals by @snarkdotart. After mint, these coral/crystal #NFT formations will grow into new structures based on new holders' wallet transaction history, wallet ID, #ETH balance, etc. Before reaching the final form, the nft is shapeshifting several times.

7/ NFTs could be able to interact with #api3 Oracles, third-party feeds that connect blockchains to external systems. Imagine an nft fantasy football player card whose stats change during the season (thus its rarity). Or nfts updating their artwork according to the weather? WOW

8/ NGL this could be game-changing IMO, unlocking endless artistic possibilities, and giving NFT projects a set of new unexplored narrative capabilities that can evolve over time. We’re going to see more dynamic nft projects in the next months, let's wait and see 🍿

9/ Speaking of which, let's talk about @RubberDuckBP. RDBP is a pfp project with amazing art by @galshir. There is no real #utility or roadmap here, as stated on the website: “No bs, no promises, no buzzwords. Just fun.” Sounds interesting. 🎉

10/ What’s cool here are #bathparties, and the first one “Carnival” is happening right as I’m writing this 🧵. The premise is that bath parties are so tough that the attending ducks will return changed. 👀 Metadata will be updated and the ducks might gain, or lose a trait.

11/ While keeping the token and everything else unchanged, the displayed nft in the wallet or on #Opensea will be the new updated version, while the previous ducks will be still viewable, since they will be permanently stored within the nft.

12/ The website duck.art is very cool (lost it at the duck sound when clicking links 😂). The mint reveal was also well-executed, same goes for the duck submission for the party. Well played @Jishai and @lazylizzyyyy, ggs 👏

13/ On top of that @rafaelfrost, a dedicated music composer in the team, is producing tracks for the bath parties, and releasing them on @Spotify. 🎶 Again, nice touch. The two released tracks (Mint and Carnival) are 🔥 This was yesterday's discord vibing hard.

14/ I (of course) have sent my badass #duck to the party ✌. It might lose a trait but hey, that’s the game right? The reveal will happen tomorrow with some sort of “walk of shame” I’m very very curious to see. Will update this thread when my duck returns. #bathresponsibly

15/ This might also enable a new #collecting approach, based on NFT history, previous versions, etc. What truly fascinates me, is the narrative potential this #dynamic twist can give to NFT projects. IMHO it’s unprecedented and I guess there will be more and more coming. 👀

16/ 🤞 Hopefully I’ll get some other badass traits or something completely off-topic, I wouldn’t mind. Already ruling out the possibility of turning into a 1/1 since I’m super unlucky with this kind of ruffles #ngmi lol. In the meantime, let's just vibe 🦆

After #bathparty update: @RubberDuckBP devs thought it wasn't a good idea to mess up with this bad-tempered duck and just replaced the mint background with a grass one. 🟩 No news, good news I guess?
