"Why does the government view all those young people, who went on the peaceful January protests to speak up about their opinions and thoughts, as enemies? Why are they all being sent to jail?
3/7 Kenshilik is being prosecuted under Article 272 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of RK ("Participation in mass disorders).
Kenshilik has been held in the pre-trial detention facility for 2 months now, and recently, the court has extended the term of his arrest for 2 more months.
4/7 Kenshilik #TOGZHAL was arrested on 8 January 2022. He was beaten right in the prisoner transportation vehicle while being transported. He told his father that he had been tortured with a stun gun and beaten with a baseball bat on the head.
5/7 He had been beaten on the head so hard that it had swollen to twice the size of its normal size. Kenshilik #TOGZHAL had been tortured in the Dynamo sports hall.

2/3 On 12 April 2022 the Akimat (local executive body) of Almaty issued a refusal to hold a peaceful rally scheduled for 1 May 2022 in response to 2 notifications submitted by civil activists.
3/3 The politically motivated refusals were signed by Deputy Mayor of Almaty Yerbol #DOSAYEV and Acting Head of the Department of Social Development #YESENBEKOV A.
1/3 Politically motivated refusals to notifications of peaceful assemblies. On 11 April 2022, the Akimat (local executive body) of #Aktau issued a refusal to hold a peaceful assembly on 1 May 2022 in response to a notification submitted by activist Bolat #NURGAZIN.
2/3 The topic of the peaceful assembly: "In solidarity with Ukraine. No to war. In favour of leaving the #CSTO and #EAEU. Increase in people's incomes.
The reason for the politically motivated refusal: mass cultural and sporting events are going to be held on that day.
3/3 Politically motivated refusal was signed by the deputy Akim (mayor) of Aktau #BAYPAKOV A.
This is at least the fifth refusal to hold anti-war rallies and solidarity actions with #Ukraine issued by the #Kazakhstani authorities.

On 14 April 2022 at 09:40 political prisoner Abay #BEGIMBETOV’s application for release on parole is going to be considered in #Kapshagay district court.
2/4 It should be reminded that Abay BEGIMBETOV and a number of other activists were illegally sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment in October 2021 for their peaceful activism: participation in peaceful protests, criticism of the authorities.
3/4 In its resolutions in 2021 and 2022 the European Parliament called upon the Kazakhstani authorities to release and rehabilitate all political prisoners, including Abay BEGIMBETOV.
2/5 A story we have heard repeatedly in different variations: gunshot wound, abduction by special forces from the hospital, torture in the pre-trial detention facility SI-18, fabricated criminal case.
3/5 All this points to the fact that it was an order to fabricate the case about "terrorists" given by high-ranking officials. Both the people who ordered it, including Nazarbayev and Tokayev, and the executors of the criminal orders themselves should be held responsible.
2/3 On 13 April 2022, the Akimat (local executive body) of Uralsk and Aksay (Borili district) refused to hold anti-war actions (with support of Ukraine) on 1 May 2022 in response to two notifications submitted by civil activists.
3/3 Politically motivated refusals was signed by the deputy acting head of the internal policy department of the Akimat of Uralsk #GINIYATOV A, deputy Akim (mayor) of Borili district #KUSHKINBAYEV A and Akim of Borili district #SATKANOV M.
2/6 On 5 January 2022 Marat went on a peaceful protest where he was a gunshot and taken by unidentified people to the city hospital #7.Doctors diagnosed Marat with an“open multi-comminuted fracture of the lower third of the two bones of the right tibia caused by a gunshot”.
3/6 On 8 January an armed special rapid response unit (SOBR) burst into the hospital, took the half-naked wounded patients, including Marat, outside by beating them and shoved them into a prisoner transportation vehicle.
