1/2 In other words, conservative #fearmongering has whipped-up "pawns" to catastrophize about a review that has yet to take place. Perhaps these people being used as pawns don't know the conservatives have opposed every social program ever brought before Parliament.
2/2 They have conveniently forgotten all of our social programs came from Liberal Party minority gov'ts with 3rd party support.

Protestant churches paid about 9.2 million Canadian dollars. But the Catholic Church, which operated about 70 percent of the more than 130 schools, only paid 1.2 million of the 25 million Canadian dollars it agreed to raise in cash contributions as reparations.
In 1998, the Untied of Canada church apologized specifically for its role in Indian Residential Schools, and since 2008 has been actively engaged in the Truth and Reconciliation without any expensive journeys.

Canada has taken first place in the 2021 Best Countries Report, an analytical study conducted by U.S. News & World Report. This is the first time Canada has claimed the top spot in the yearly ranking, having spent several years in the second and third positions. 1/3
Highlighted in the 2021 report is that Canada ranked first in sub-rankings, including quality of life and social purpose, meaning that it is seen as “a stable and safe society in which individuals [and business] can develop and prosper, and is open, fair and equitable.” 2/3

1/2 I know that old paper records like #residentialschoolrecords require controlled environments to be prevented from degrading and that creating and maintaining such environments is extremely expensive. The Vatican has such records.
2/2 Digitizing copies of the Canadian #residentialschoolrecords and placing them in the hands of the appropriate First Nations would provide access to their own historical records for research purposes.

#yycbeltline 🧵I'd like to bring forward another POV on policing. I'm experienced in protesting & I don't support counter-protesting. If there were no counter-protestors there would be no potential for violence. The police would not have to separate 2 groups to prevent violence.
If you aren't counter-protesting on the street you can put city council, mayor & police on the hot seat. Where is the permit to protest? What conditions does it state? If there is no permit or conditions then why is that? How & when will the council & police act to restore peace?
Don't counter-protest on the streets. The city council & mayor, MLAs and Police Chief aren't being pressured to ensure Beltline residents have peaceful quiet enjoyment of their homes, streets & neighbourhood. Make them act, phone, email, write & don't give up.
