📍Mass infection spillover—“Chaos” at @HeathrowAirport. Hundreds of flights ✈️have been cancelled or delayed as airlines have been hit by staff absences due to #COVID19. 3 hour queues—some 🛬 flights delayed 24 hours. How is ‘let it rip’ good for economy?!
2) Anyone with a brain knows this “mass infection” letting it rip approach of @BorisJohnson is just lunacy and irresponsible. Not to mention #LongCovid risks. I’m not saying to do lockdowns—not a fan—but there’s so many mitigations to use and keep economy running.
3) we are throwing our elderly under the bus. Hospitalizations for COVID now have exceeded spring 2020 peak among elderly 85+ in England!
4) Not just the elderly… Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 now reporting record high #COVID19 hospitalizations in one week among kids too!!! Jesus.
5) look at these Uk NHS hospitalization levels and try to tell me UK isn’t suffering from a catastrophic crisis from #Ba2. You can’t. Because it’s a shit show. Also notice in Plymouth hospital how quickly BA2 hospitalizations rebounded after the BA1 wave. Almost no lull at all!
6) Airline CEOs have themselves to blame for this mess. They asked for it. Way to eff things up @British_Airways by being a @BorisJohnson mass infection propaganda toady.
7) I’m really sad for all those suffering terrible in UK, especially in England, which has a higher rate than the rest of GB. The people of England deserved so much better than what @BorisJohnson is serving them — mass infection ‘let it rip’ approach.

📍SUPERSPREADING—2 top WH cabinet members (Attorney General, Commerce Secretary), 2 Congress members, multiple WH National Sec Council, and reporters have #COVID19 after DC dinner event. ➡️Guess what else—@CDCDirector also in attendance.🤦🏻‍♂️ List to expand. washingtonpost.com/media/2022/04/…
2) The Gridiron Club dinner appears to have been conducted with respect to the latest official guidelines for covid safety. ➡️The CDC updated its guidelines on Feb. 25 to ease mask recommendations for the vast majority of the country. 🤦🏻‍♂️
3) More than 95% of US, including Washington, D.C., is classified by CDC as having a low burden of disease, meaning CDC does not recommend a mask mandate. But some experts have cautioned that the new CDC guidelines could leave the country unprepared in the event of another wave.

👀WATCH THE SEWER CORONAVIRUS—Wastewater #SARSCoV2 is increasing in the Northeast & South. This general trend is seen in both CDC and in @BiobotAnalytics national sewer testing data—more accurate & unbiased. #BA2 is now 72% this week says CDC. Get boosted.
covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tra… ImageImage
2) honestly I don’t trust the slow case reporting anymore. Why? Home testing of most often never reported. And home testing is now ubiquitous ever since kits mailed out for free. Furthermore, many states shuttered the mass testing sites. Sewer best. 👇

3) REMINDER—the overall data hides that PEDIATRIC hospitalizations are rising again. Not just cases. Kids hospitalizations folks! Don’t leave them out in the cold without boosters or any vaccines or masks!

Elon Musk does do a lot of good—I truly support what he does for clean energy revolution, space tech, free satellite internet for Ukraine, & free speech. ➡️But I also wish he pays more taxes, treats workers better, not equate Twitter CEO to Stalin, & fought COVID disinfo more.🙏
2) I think we should keep advocating to @elonmusk to improve in area where he has blind spots. He is a complex and overstretched person and can have blind spots on worker issues and such. But I have noticed he is responsive to feedback. He isn’t a Tucker Carlson or Bannon.
3) I do wish Elon had a stronger COO second in command figure who is more prominent like Tim Cook was to Steve Jobs. Jobs was the dreamer and imaginative CEO while Tim Cook made things run smoothly and more humanistic to workers.

P.s. I own no stocks in any Musk companies.

💡Cancer risk? Scientists now concerned that #SARSCoV2 virus targets / interacts with 96 cancer genes— thereby “potential impact on pathways relevant to cancer affecting cell proliferation… favoring DNA degradation, preventing repair of damaging events”.

2) I used to be a cancer epidemiologist — trained on 3 NIH-funded cancer epi grants at Harvard. Inflammation is already well known to cause cancers — it’s is a pretty proven cause of colorectal cancer. And COVID is a known high inflammation disease. Thus, let’s be precautious. 🙏
3) CHRONIC inflammation is a cause of cancer. So is does long COVID have chronic inflammation? ➡️"[C]hronic inflammation also plays a major role in the clinical evolution of COVID-19 patients" ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…

I cry for England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿—#BA2 hospitalizations have now exceeded old #Omicron’s peak—which were **merely 3 months ago**. So much for stupid mass infection natural herd strategy.

This is @BorisJohnson & @sajidjavid’s horrible British 🇬🇧 exceptionalism.

HT @Antonio_Caramia #COVID19 Image
2) Anyone with a brain knows this “mass infection” letting it rip approach of @BorisJohnson is just lunacy & morally bankrupt. Not to mention #LongCovid to come. I’m not saying to do lockdowns—not a fan—but there’s so many mitigations to use to keep people safe & economy running.
3) And Boris and Sajid are throwing the elderly under the bus. Hospitalizations in the elderly 85+ in England are so high that they now exceed also the spring 2020 peak!

UNDER FIRE—@CDCgov realizes it is under “blistering criticisms” for poor management in the pandemic—@CDCDirector plans to revamp saying “it is time to step back and strategically position CDC to support the future of public health” with an outside audit🧵
washingtonpost.com/health/2022/04…
2) In an agencywide email sent shortly after 1 p.m., Walensky said she has hired a senior federal health official outside of the Atlanta-based agency to conduct a one-month review to “kick off an evaluation of CDC’s structure, systems, and processes.”
3) Since pandemic began more than 2 years ago, the once-storied agency has been under fire for its pandemic response, from initial delays developing a coronavirus test, to the severe eligibility limits to get the test, to missteps often attributed to Trump WH meddling.
