🚩Yesterday the Azov battalion unit in Mariupol claimed three of its fighters were wounded following the use of chemical weapons dropped from a drone, leading to respiratory distress - No further evidence so far, all reports are tied to this statement.
The #Russian Ministry of Defense claims to have used the #Kinzhal supersonic missile against a Ukrainian HQ in Chasov Yar in the Donetsk region yesterday
Ukrainian authorities continue to gather evidence of attacks against civilians. These pictures show a destroyed civilian car hit by heavy gunfire (possibly from a infantry fighting vehicle).
A family including two children was found inside. The driver survived but was injured.
Fighter of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade of the Ukrainian military (the same unit that released a "farewell" message some say was fake) says they won't surrender, and have not abandonned their positions in #Mariupol
From the same incident...
Damage to train tracks/bridge near Shebekino in #Russia's Belgorod Oblast.
Some people are asking the source of the video (which is always a good question). It comes from Ukrainian journalist, Natasya Nagorna. There is another video from the same unit in the same post. facebook.com/natasya.nagorn…
BTW this does suggest that the "farewell" message
published on their facebook page yesterday was not a hack (for those reading @LeBeckInt Ukraine updates we did assess it was authentic).
These fighters fought for weeks without being resupplied. I think they gave the Ukrainian army a lot of breathing room by pinning down Russian units in Mariupol. Other units are still resisting, but the marines found themselves surrounded. This was inevitable in my opinion...
Chernihiv
The village of Novoyakovlivka in the Zaporizhya region was shelled with white phosphorus according to local authorities komish-gromada.gov.ua/%D0%BE%D0%B1%D…
(I don't know enough about these kinds of shells to identify but if you do, feel free to respond to the tweet)
Looks like it could be incendiary submunitions/thermite (thank you @wammezz for pointing this out)
A report claims the 36th Marine Brigade soldiers that were surounded in Mariupol managed to link up with other units of the Azov Battalion - would consider this unconfirmed for now pravda.com.ua/news/2022/04/1…
I do think we should be careful with throwing around the term genocide, but brushing it aside because the two people are "brothers" is the dumbest argument
There is a question of intent that I think requires investigation (and I do think some elements points to the systematic elimination of people as I've said before) and clear war crimes being committed.
I do think there is a broader problem with people thinking only a genocide should prompt a response (which is why we tend to jump to genocide). We should act before that, focusing on "genocides" as if this was the end all be all of international triggers is dangerous
At least 30 people were killed and dozens wounded in a Russian strike against the Kramatorsk train station
Again this is not random. Train stations have regularly been hit by #Russia. The Russian Ministry of Defense itself reported a strike against a train station in the Zhytomyr region yesterday. There were also strikes against other train stations in the Donbass recently.
Today the foreign ministers of NATO countries as well as those of Ukraine, Finland, Sweden, Georgia, Australia, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea are slated to hold a meeting to discuss #Ukraine in Brussels
Russian shelling in Lysychansk in the Donbass hit houses
I kind of disagree with this view, which several people appear to be taking.
The Russian army is disorganized and did clearly break up into looting parties, but at least some of the executions were very much organized and part of the "plan".
From what we've seen, I think the rules of engagement WERE in fact, to go door by door and kill anyone who could be drafted, or had any ties with the Ukrainian military.
Let's take this incident in the tweet below. My understanding is that this was an organized "processing" area, with an FSB team "questioning" and then later killing people - of course this is still unconfirmed
Earlier today, the Ukrainian military reported that Russian forces captured the village of Brazhkivka, situated south of Izyum. The Russians also tried to capture the nearby village of Sulyhivka, but failed according to the Ukrainian military
