Anmerkungen an Medienvertreter zur #Ukraine

1) Es gab ab 2014 keinen Bürgerkrieg / "ethnischen Konflikt"

2) Es gab nie ein Verbot der russischen Sprache

3) Die Gründer der "Volksrepubliken" im Donbas waren zum Großteil russische Nationalisten, keine Kohlearbeiter aus Donetsk
Wenn Sie Interviews oder Talk-Runden moderieren, korrigieren Sie Ihre Gäste, wenn sie (faktisch falsche) russische Narrative verbreiten. Ukraine hat keinen Krieg gegen die eigene Bevölkerung geführt, russischsprachige Ukraine ≠ "Separatisten"
Das für westliche Ohren gedachte Argument "Russland wehr sich gegen die NATO", stimmt nicht mit der russischen Position im eigenen Land überein: Das russische Imperium wieder herzustellen, Ukraine und "ukrainisch sein" auszulöschen. Die Rhetorik ist extremistisch und genozidal...
Putin war 2014 bündnisfrei und wurde von Russland zweimal überfallen: Annektion der Krim und eine militärische Aggression im Donbas, mit Warlords, offiziellen Truppen "auf Urlaub" und extremistischen Kampfverbänden.
Es geht nicht um ein großes Land, das ein vergleichbares, kleineres Land attackiert, sondern um eine Diktatur, welche eine pro-Europäische Demokratie überallen hat. Die Mehrheit der UkrainerInnen wollte bereits vor 2022 in die Europäische Union.

Die Anzahl der rechtsextremen Kampfgruppen und beim Donbaskrieg seit 2014 beteiligten Organisationen ist extrem hoch - Beispiele:
NOD, RNE, Wagner, Sparta, Nachtwölfe, Russisch Orthodoxe Armee...
Die sogenannten Volksrepubliken "DNR/LNR" sind diktatorische Regimes:

- Folter und Erpressung
- Exekutionen von politisch Andersdenkenden
- Zwangsrekrutierung
- Keinerlei Menschenrechte und Meinungsfreiheit
- organisierte Propaganda

usw. stehen an der Tagesordnung
Der verstorbene "Separatistenführer" Sachartschenko:

"Er spreche in Bezug auf die Zukunft „nicht nur von Kiew“. „Es geht sogar nicht einmal darum, nur Berlin zu nehmen." "...auch Finnland, ein Teil Polens, Moldau, Georgien, Armenien und Aserbaidschan..."
Der Moskauer Girkin sagte selbst "er habe den Auslöser für den Krieg gedrückt". Er ist auch für den Abschuss des Passagerjets MH17 angeklagt.

Die von Russland anerkannten und auch initiierten "Volksrepubliken" sind gemeinsam mit der russischen Armee laut der internationalen Untersuchung auch für den Abschuss des Flugzeugs #MH17 verantwortlich

Putin war übrigens nicht "bündnisfrei", Russland "leitet" die OKVS ein Militärblock mit 6 Mitgliedsstaaten aus der ehemaligen UdSSR, zum Beispiel Belarus und Kasachstan sind dabei...

What many westerners got wrong about #Ukraine 🧵

- Ukraine is an independent country since 1991 - but history of Ukrainian statehood is much older

- Ukraine did not "provoke" Russia, it was attacked by Russia especially since 2014, Russia doesn't accept the existence of Ukraine
NATO: Before the beginning of Russian aggression 2014, far less than 50% of Ukrainians were in favor of NATO membership. After 2014 and the constant Russian aggression (annexation of Crime, war in Donbas), the numbers increased drastically.
EU: The desire to join the EU is not new, especially after Euromaidan: In 2019 53% supported joining the EU (DIF survey), 79% had a favorable view about the European Union (PEW research center).

European flags can be seen everywere in Ukraine.

Russian disinformation against #Ukraine is based on two categories of lies:🧵

1) quite ridiculous stories that are easy to debunk, only radicals buy it

2) less obvious, more difficult to debunk --> potentially believable for anybody who has no background knowledge about Ukraine
Category 1) "Russian kid crucified by UA soldiers", "Zelensky is a Nazi", "there is no war, just a special operation"

Category 2) "Russian language ban", "Ukrainians attacked Donbas for 8 years", "civil war in Donbas"
Catagory 2 is more dangerous, cause our societies lack background knowledge (even many journalists) so we have no resilience against Russian narratives that are more difficult to debunk.

What journalists and hosts got wrong about #Ukraine and Russian aggression since 2014 (thread)🧵

Russian disinformation is not only one of many tools of the Kremlin's policy. When diplomats speak, they tell target group adjusted messages -->media needs to debunk them instantly
"Neutrality". There is no neutrality towards the truth in journalism. The problem is that many hosts and journalists are not able to debunk Russian false narratives. Some positions by the Russian Federation are obviously absurd, others are believed by many.
Language situation: Pres. Zelenskyy is from a Russian speaking region, and his TV series (like many other shows) were mostly in Russian,
The Russian language is common in Ukraine and in Kyiv too. However, many people in the West still believe Russian claims that it is forbidden.

Some facts about the so called "People's republics" in #Donbas & why Ukrainians fight so hard to avoid the creation of new ones.🧵

- no rule of law, freedom of speech, democracy of any kind

- blackmailing, robbery, torture and executions of civil activists by the "authorities"
The founders of the "republics" were two Russian citizens (Girkin, Borodai, both radical nationalists and warlords) and one local (Pushilin) who worked for a finance fraud led by a former Russian MP.
Russia uses the situation in Donbas to justify its war against #Ukraine "look what Ukraine did to Donbas for 8 years." The truth is, that many civilians died because of the Russian forces and they tried to expand their territory, especially to take over Mariupol

Russia tries to confuse us again with #Disinfo 🧵

2014: "Our guys do not have a BUK" (they had one of course, they even showed off with it on TV)

2021: "Russia does not have Tochka-U rockets."...of course they have...
After the terrible attack in Kramatorsk, a vast number of twitter profiles suddenly commented, that Russia does not have such rockets, so the Ukrainians are the ones to blame.
The target group of these trolls are people who say things like: "the Ukrainians want to provoke, the want to drag us into this war." "Cui bono", "I do not say that they did it themselves, but..." (but actually they say exactly this).
