Spoke to Hayat Baloch, #ShariBaloch's father, via a local journalist in Kech. Here is a thread.

“My daughter was a very cheerful and kind woman. The family is still in shock. It was and is beyond our comprehension that Shari could take anyone’s life.
None of us were aware of her affiliation with #BLA. She was a happy girl, and we don’t know what forced her to do this. Neither she had any suicidal tendencies nor radical thoughts. There is a lot of propaganda about her in the Pakistani press.
Reports of her having mental problems or having differences with my family are untrue and baseless. Last we met was around three weeks ago in Karachi. Days before she committed this act, she had spoken to her siblings but didn’t mention anything like this. She looked happy.

Some thoughts on the BLA attack in #Karachi University [Thread]

No doubt, the #Baloch insurgency has been redefining itself since 2011. What is surprising is how Baloch separatists, many of whom define themselves as secular nationalists, have now started following the same
strategy that has been used by hardcore Islamists such as #Bokoharam in Nigeria, Islamic State (#ISIS) in Iraq and Syria, Al Qaeda, and #Taliban in #Afghanistan. Use of women as suicide bombers.
This is the fifth rebellion in #Balochistan, and the current one is the longest, which broke out in early 2000. Still, it’s the first time the separatist GROUP #BLA has used a female suicide bomber to attack #Chinese nationals in #Karachi. There are many reasons.

What journalists experienced in Islamabad during Khan era #Balochistan-based journalists have been facing the worst for the last 15-years. B4 Khan came into power, local media disappeared & journalists lost jobs in B'stan due to financial pressure. Watch

I am very clear that the military establishment won't change its security-centric approach when it comes to Balochistan, no matter whether we make a new Pakistan, old, or Azad Pakistan. The situation for Balochistan will remain the same.
Also told @Rabail26 how the establishment forced seasoned journalists like @MalikSirajAkbar, @sajid_hussainb, & others to flee Balochistan more than a decade ago. From commercial squeezing to physical assault and disappearances, the state used every tactic to muzzle Baloch media.

.@AliHZaidiPTI's disgusting statement reflects on state policies. Honestly, if I start telling how his masters, judges, & bureaucrats treat missing persons' families, then every Baloch will start hating d State. Their attitude has been so filthy that I won't like to discuss it.
@AliHZaidiPTI People like me are either professionally bound, or they are silent only to protect this federation from falling. Otherwise, their behavior is always blood boiling. They keep saying that missing persons are in the mountains and have joined armed groups. Its totally baseless but
Yes, some of the family members or released ppl later joined armed groups. Because the system failed them. They were so fed up with day-to-day mistreatment and sexual harassment their women's family members had to endure. These are stomach-churning stories that are indescribable
