2/8 Question: which is the best assessment to track and report English progress for English language learners in my school?
3/8 Answer they want: [Generic product name] test will work for you.
4/8 Answer they get: This is much more complex than one tool can measure. You need a mix of teacher judgement, external benchmarking, moderation, home language understanding, cross curricular analysis, teacher training, parental support and leadership buy-in. Happy to guide you.
5/8 Question: …….. I think I’ll go with Cambridge ESL examinations. They are the industry leader so I trust them. Is that ok?
6/8 Answer: This is much more complex than one tool can measure. You need a mix of teacher judgement, external benchmarking, moderation, home language understanding, cross curricular analysis, teacher training, parental support and leadership buy-in. Happy to guide you.
7/8 Question: But can I use Cambridge tests?
8/8 Answer: Sure 🤦♂️

So, it’s happened. I got #COVID in #Shanghai. Waiting for CDC now to take me to hospital and @LeaningEmma to central quarantine- our life for the next three weeks ☹️
From this pic at testing you can see I was oblivious 😅
Seems like #Shanghai is battling hard today. Covid positive this morning and still not collected from home (Both me and @LeaningEmma). Told there are a few in front of us. Feel for neighbours now in full 7+7 lockdown.
