The sub-region is entering in its cold season and experience increase in #COVID19 new cases, with low-med mortality:

1/7 - Un débat anime la twittosphère actuellement entre les tenants et les opposants des mesures sanitaires autoritaires dites “pour le bien commun”. C’est un débat important qu’il faut savoir conduire en démocratie. Gardons-nous cependant de réponses trop manichéennes.
2/7 - Rappelons-nous que nous acceptons tous les jours des contraintes “pour le bien commun”, le nôtre propre (ex. ceinture de sécurité, casque vélo et moto, etc), et celui de tous (interdiction de fumer en lieux publics, limitation de l’alcool, de vitesse, feux tricolores, etc.)
3/7 - Nous avons aussi accepté de nombreuses et très lourdes contraintes pendant la pandémie. Mais on sent qu’il y a des limites cependant. Par ex., nous sommes choqués de voir ce type de contraintes encore appliquées en Chine ou en Corée du Nord. Nous les refuserions en Europe.

1/8 - La question du port du masque mais aussi des mesures de contrôle à garder, à lever, tout cela provoque toujours des débats aujourd’hui, y compris parmi les experts.
Le vaccin a changé la donne sous nos contrées mais jusqu’à quel point?
Comment gérer cette crise désormais?
2/8 - Le vaccin d’abord:
Il nous protège insuffisamment contre la transmission mais fortement contre les formes graves (hospitalisation et décès). Il y a cependant des segments entiers de la population qui restent vulnérables, à risque, et donc à mieux protéger.
3/8 - Le masque ensuite:
Il réduit le risque, mais pas au point d’empêcher les nouvelles vagues de se produire, on l’a vu en France en janvier, on le voit au Portugal en mai. Le FFP2 bien ajusté protège le mieux. On ne sait pas son efficacité contre les Covid longs.

1/5 - Un petit point de vue sur cette émergence actuelle de la variole du singe dans le monde. C’était une maladie quasiment cantonnée à l’Afrique équatoriale, RDC notamment, découverte en 1970 (elle devait auparavant être masquée par la variole, aux signes cliniques voisins).
2/5 - Les chaînes de transmission étaient très courtes, avec de rares cas tertiaires, donc quelques contaminations interhumaines, après des contaminations animal-homme: l’écureuil des palmiers, réservoir du virus, en lisière de forêt tropicale contaminant des enfants (<16 ans).
3/5 - Une épidémie aux USA (70 cas) plus récente, liée semble-t-il à des animaux importés d’Afrique équatoriale.
Le R0<1 = pas de potentiel épidémique connu… jusqu’à mai 2022 ou une quarantaine de cas ont été rapportés en Europe et en Amérique du Nord, pourquoi?
