@Tzeporah: on behalf of the #FossilFuelTreaty, I would like to welcome you to this #PreSummit, co-hosted with the @StanleyConnect & @nordenen.

Support for the #FossilFuelTreaty idea is growing and today, we are going to deepen our strategic discussions with key diverse voices.

2/ @Tzeporah: in the last 50 y there have been significant moments of international cooperation to manage threats to our planet — from a nuclear ban treaty, to global cooperation to save the ozone, and recently, the UN decided to create the world's first global plastics treaty.

3/ @Tzeporah: Yet governments have continuously failed to address the top threat to our climate, global peace and security, biodiversity, human health and water: fossil fuels which undermine every single Sustainable Development Goal #Stockholm50

4/ @Tzeporah: worse, countries plan to produce more than double the fossil fuels by 2030 than is consistent with the Paris Agreement goals. We need gov to cooperate and phase-out oil, gas and coal #FossilFuelTreaty

5/ Prime Minister Bob Loughman of Vanuatu open the #Stockholm50 #PreSummit: Let me be clear, 1.5 degrees is not the goal but the human rights tragedy that can only be addressed by moving away from climate killing fossil fuels.

6/ Tomorrow the world environment's minister will meet at #Stockholm50: Vanuatu believe that the entire @UN system should address the climate crisis.

We ask for an International Court of Justice and a #FossilFuelTreaty to free the world of #fossilfuel and protect people

7/ @lizwathuti: million of people are impacted by climate change in Kenya and the world. I saw with my own eyes hungry and desperate people loosing hope for the future. They don't know our deadly reliance on #FossilFuels is killing them.

8/ @lizwathuti : we have to break our dependence on #fossilfuels. Countries need to raise their ambitions to reach this challenge: take action, increase finance and invest in clean energy. We have to make sure it is about action and not words.

9/ @vanessa_vash: #Stockholm50 marks 50 years of climate governance. I am 25, this is twice my lifetime. What have we achieved? Here, gov & business leaders will make more false promises and leave. Their commitments will be seen as unprofitable and emissions will keep rising

10/ @vanessa_vash: why 50y after, with brilliant climate leaders and the #IPCC desperately trying to warn, have we made so little progress? Things don't change bec it has been 50y of big #fossilfuels profits at the expense of the people. Fossil Fuel undermine every singe #SGDgoal

11/ @vanessa_vash: investing in oil, gas and coal is moral and economical madness. The world needs a plan to fairly phase-out. Enough of 50y of superficial summits. Let's not just make the environment a pressing global issue, let's do something about it
