Working class people are being told by Australian billionaire Rupert Murdoch & non-dom billionaire Jonathan Harmsworth that they must just accept high #inequality & the #CostOfLivingCrisis, but Britain was a much more equal society in the 1970s than it has been at any time since.
Govts are supposed to UNITE people & look after EVERYONE, but our Govt instead uses divisive 'wedge issues' like Rwanda & the strike to scare & manipulate people into believing scapegoats like asylum seekers & unions are responsible for Britain's problems.
Given a supportive news media, it's easy to manipulate people: having endured a decade of #austerity, & now a #CostOfLivingCrisis, it's hidden from voters that from 2009-19, the collective wealth of Britain's richest 1,000 people INCREASED by £480 BILLION.
How the UK Govt conspires with a global network of opaquely funded free-market think tanks intent on destroying worker & environmental protections, & the UK's foreign/non-dom billionaire-owned press, to fuck Britain, the environment, the 99%, & our future:
The last thing these selfish greedy ideological sociopaths want is a fairer more equal society: they absolutely DEPEND on inequality to generate division & anger, so that scapegoats can be identified to distract from what they've done to us & our country.

Conservative Stanley Baldwin dominated the government of the UK between the world wars, serving as PM on three occasions.

This thread is about his feud with Britain's extremely powerful press barons, Lords Beaverbrook & Rothermere.
Born to a prosperous family in Bewdley, Worcestershire, Baldwin was educated at Hawtreys, Harrow School & Trinity College, Cambridge.

He joined the family iron & steel making business & entered the House of Commons in 1908 as the Member for Bewdley, succeeding his father Alfred.
Baldwin served as Financial Secretary to the Treasury & President of the Board of Trade in the coalition ministry of David Lloyd George and then rose rapidly: in 1922, Baldwin was one of the prime movers in the withdrawal of Conservative support from Lloyd George.

The causes of crime are more complex than Ministers & the Mail suggest eg in 2019, the Children’s Commissioner for England found that children who were in gangs were 37% more likely to have experienced childhood domestic violence/abuse than other children.

New research finds that boys who were experiencing domestic violence, but who had not been deemed to be in an ‘immediate risk’ category (due to the perpetrator having moved out, or moved on, or living separately), were not being offered support.
Some were then before long coming to the attention of youth offending services as perpetrators of violence, through being involved in urban street life (on-road), or involved in gangs.
