Fascism has three main hallmarks according to Stanley G Payne's definition;

1. Fascist negations - being anti-something. Anti-#abortions, anti-#liberal, anti-#LGBT, anti-#communist, anti-#SSRI, anti-#women, etc.

2. Fascist goals - wants a nationalist dictatorship and regulate the economy. Pretty obvious both here an abroad.

Trump tried, and the GOP is still at it.

Pierre Poilievre's CPC is showing hallmarks of totalitarianism in their party with attacks like the one on Brown.

3. Fascist style - it carries with it a populist aesthetic that romanticizes something.

Is it guns, racism, political leaders, the 'good old days'?

Why not all 3?

Roger Griffin describes fascism as "Palingenetic Ultranationalism."

This essentially means "rebirth".

Umberto Eco states there is 14 symptoms of a fascist regime. Let's list them off.

1. A cult of tradition - the 50 years of regression feels like it fits this definition

2. The rejection of modernism - wanting to return to the 'old days' where nobody had rights but white men.

3. Action for action's sake - Convoy, anyone?

4. Disagreement is treason - I think you can figure this out with @patrickbrownont, I can't help you.

5. Disagreement is diversity - vaccines are a great example of this.

6. A mass frustration - lockdowns, anyone?

7. Common purpose - standing up against the tyrant, Trudeau (yes, people believe this).

8. A sense of humiliation - being ostracized from society for not doing their part and getting vaccinated, even after billions of doses have been administered and it's been proven beneficial.

9. Life is lived for the struggle - live to work, work to live. Wanting to keep wages low, spare time to a minimum and keeping everyone overworked - just to live, is a pretty prime example.

10. Contempt for the weak - speaks for itself. While I do not believe truly marginalized people or women are 'weak' they fall under the category, as well as #PWD. I don't believe the disenfranchised really know how strong they are - especially as a unified voice.

11. Everyone can be the hero - Rittenhouse, anyone? He's being championed for their movement because this is how fascism works.

Who else is going to want to go out and be 'the hero' at the next protest?

This is fucking dangerous.

12. Machismo - see Tucker Carlson's show for both a) toxic masculinity, and b) a severe lack of masculinity.

The recent rhetoric blaming women for the #HighlandPark shooting is an extremely dangerous form of machismo.

Power, guns, sexual prowess, etc - all machismo.

13. Selective populism - this is a constant battle. It happens with both politicians and those who idolize politicians.

Politicians are not loyal to you, you should not be loyal to them.

14. Newspeak - impoverished language. Obfuscating intentions, etc.

Pepe meme, HonkHonk, etc.

This is a way to maintain plausible deniability - just like the #FreedomConvoy was co-opted and obfuscated into an alt-right recruiting tool.

Familiarize yourself with these basic definitions, and you'll never see the modern political climate the same way again.

This is fascism. It is growing in real-time before our eyes, and the ramping up of stochastic terrorism via media is a major part of the problem.
