According to Slater Slater Schulman, the legal firm representing the women, #Uber was aware of the crimes since 2014, but it prioritized profits over passenger safety and failed to take necessary precautions to protect its female passengers.

When one woman attempted to complain to the company about the driver who sexually assaulted her, her Uber account was suspended.

In its own safety report published last June, Uber counted 998 sexual assault incidents, including 141 reports of rape in 2020, and 3,824 complaints of #assault, #harassment and #rape in 2019 and 2020.

The lawsuit comes days after the #UberFiles leak, which revealed that politicians provided suspect legal facilities to the company.
