2/7 When first reported to @CalgaryPolice more than 2 months ago, the police didn't even ask for or try to acquire evidence or document the bite marks & bruising. Fill out a report online they said & we will get back to you. They did...a couple weeks later #yyc #calgary #abpoli

3/7 @CalgaryPolice took so long to follow up with the bar on video evidence that the bar had long since deleted the footage. Despite being told that the sexual assaulter had been told that the assault had been reported to police they took more than 2 months to talk to him.

4/7 Yesterday the victim woke up to an email from @CalgaryPolice saying "hey we talked to him. What were you wearing and can you send us a picture."
She was alone with no support nearby when she got this email. Needless to say it triggered every last fear & emotion. #yyc #abpoli

5/7 She is weeks away from getting into sa counseling. She is sure this is going to turn into the police blaming her. Had friends not traveled hours to be with her she was on her way to something extremely drastic. #yyc #calgary #assault #abpoli #ableg

If the way the sexual assault case above has been handled is standard @CalgaryPolice practice, #yyc police appear to be doing everything to avoid investigating/prosecuting sexual assault while triggering trauma & victimizing the victim.

7/7 "We cannot comment on an ongoing investigation." We can all already hear the @CalgaryPolice response. This isn't about the investigation. This is about the sexual assault investigation process which is no doubt failing & damaging all victims. #yyc #abpoli #able #rape #assault

@calgarypolice will no doubt ignore this thread until it drops off the radar so one question for @neufeld_mark -how is what a #sexualassault victim was wearing relevant and why does it only become relevant 2 months into a (botched) investigation after speaking to the rapist?

I was wrong. @CalgaryPolice didn't ignore the tweet. Instead they tried to take the conversation offline, behind closed doors. "please DM us so we can look into this". It is time to explain their process & reason for the problems to all of us
