Thread: The most patriotic, professional, and honorable statement made by an AG of the US in my lifetime.
What an absolute blessing Merrick Garland is to the country and everyone else in the world relying on a democratic and therefore peaceful USA.
I genuinely #BackTheBlue, having served in a civilian role within my own country's police department and justice system.
In 2016 I believed the lie that the Republican party supported the rule of law and all those who lawfully enforce it.
By 1/6/21 I had reversed that belief.
I believe Merrick Garland made this statement in an effort to dial down the temperature of the heat source the criminally reckless Republican party has been inflaming since the moment their cult leader went public after his property was lawfully searched.
It is to save lives.
The precision of the today's filing decision by the DOJ, the AG's words, and the manner of his delivery demonstrate the incredible skill of Garland and his team.
He would have made a fine scotus* judge. I applaud President Biden for appointing him AG at this crucial time.
*I will type scotus in lower case unless and until the court is restored to legitimacy and respect for the Constitution & the people of the US. I do the same with any acronym that no longer deserves to be written in upper case. Minor in the scheme of things but to me it matters.
The 8/8/22 lawful search warrant execution and associated lawful actions have really gotten under the skin of the former guy and everyone in his party and movement that have let us know how triggered they are.
They should be grateful things aren't worse for them right now.
IMO, anyone who still expresses support for them after 1/6 is unwilling or unable to acknowledge the reality of what happened that day, and why.
As I predicted that day, the truth will come out, and there will be a reckoning, under the laws of the US. It's already underway.
Literally hundreds of millions around the world are depending on it. The global body count from this presidency alone continues to grow. Whether individual Americans agree or not, the country has developed the rights - and responsibilities - of leading the democratic world...
We, in the hundred or so countries aspiring to be parts of a rules-based, democratic, international order, are beholden to the US for our security & welfare. What's the alternative? China? Russia? No thanks.
We know every country has it's rebels. But we cannot afford to sit by
ignoring what maga republicans want to do to the US, as part of an ongoing international fascist project.
The blood of our parents and grandparents was spilled in our allied effort to defeat fascism the last time it attained the power to harm innocents on an industrial scale.
I am extremely pleased and relieved to see the US executive and legislative branches now using their lawful powers to fight fascism at home and abroad.
The task requires patience, so that the results endure, & to minimize the inevitable loss of life that has been set in train.
Those already killed in the current spike of fascism worldwide are always on my mind. The dozen or so deaths of innocent people resulting from 1/6. Every innocent Afghani so casually discarded by the 45th president's deal with the Taliban, made to look like 46 was to blame.
Every death caused by European dictators like Putin, Orban, and Lukashenko, in relation to Ukraine, Georgia, Chechnya and other places that are now victims of their right wing extremism (aka fascism.) And other club members like Modi and Bolsanaro. From Covid, war & terrorism...
If you attend, let alone help run, a conference where Viktor Orban is invited to give a speech, then you have allowed yourself to be an enabler, at best, of fascist rhetoric, which inevitably leads to the deaths of innocent people.
This frog jumped out of the boiling water.
I do have (basic human) empathy for those who are genuinely unable to understand that they have been manipulated into the cult. But make no mistake: those capable of understanding and accepting what is going on there deserve no sympathy from me. Their selfishness is extreme.
For the moment, I am basking in the glory of AG Garland's actions and public statement of today. They represent genuine hope, genuine capability, and a love of the law.
In life, it's always the quiet ones you have to watch.

This short video is required viewing for anyone who wants to understand what the search at Mar-a-Lago means in the *real* world of espionage and national security.
And as for the storage room being next to the pool, I get it. When I first heard about the basement search, I thought of the fact the complex is at sea level (on a very narrow isthmus) in a Cat 5 hurricane zone. It could easily be flooded, with TS/SCI docs floating around.
There's two aspects to this. Criminal negligence in allowing SCI documents to be vulnerable to (additional) theft. Criminal intent in having them available for sale to our enemies. Transactions can be cash and/or in-kind. He already sold 39 M innocent Afghanis to the Taliban...
Thread: Thoughts and reflections of a (proudly) EX Cult 45 adherent after the historic 8/8/22 FBI search at Mar-a-lago.
There's a bunch of interviews and other info that helped me understand what the hell happened to the US between 2015 and 2022.
Here are some of them.
I chose the above photo because we must #NeverForget the Holocaust, so it will be #NeverAgain.
The aftermath of the 10/27/18 killing of 11 innocent people at the Tree of Life Synagogue, Pittsburgh told us a lot about T**** and his inner circle then, and now.
No one in American history has done more than T**** to encourage antisemitism, terrorism, and the downfall of the republic itself. Yet he was welcomed to Pittsburgh by the rabbi of that synagogue. I defended the visit, and will never stop apologizing for that. Mea culpa.
Just three quick tweets about Atlantic hurricane potential in August 2022.
Luckily, the season's been quiet af so far, as we near the halfway point in 3 weeks. There is a small chance of a US landfalling storm arising from the system below.
It's far too early to tell where this might go, but we'll know more each day. The NE Pacific basin is all the way up to Tropical Storm Howard, but the Atlantic has only reached TS Colin.
The next storm names are Danielle, Earl, Fiona, Gaston, Hermine, Ian, Julia, and Karl.
As always, I encourage you to prepare for extreme weather and natural and other disasters that are possible in your region. ready.gov is a brilliant resource.
And pls donate blood routinely if you can. It's always needed.
Thread: This hilarious prank call needs to go viral.
I stumbled upon it while looking for recent news on Mike "My Pillow" Lindell because, frankly, he's beclowned himself in public for such a long time & I don't know why no one has stopped him yet.
Granted, when you have a lot of wealth it's often impossible for loved ones to protect you from yourself.
Between bouts of hysterical laughter while watching this video I did glean a few things from Lindell's reactions during the zoom call.
Having been dropped by multiple retailers he is so desperate to find new ones that he quibbles about potentially having to delay the meeting for a mere 24 hours. By the end though, he's happy to do it.
He was unprepared for the call (if it had been a genuine meeting.)
It surprises me that Harry wore a Dior suit because it looked to me like it's been poorly tailored for him. There are hundreds of valid critiques to be made of these two from just this NYC trip, but I find his almost disheveled appearance to be very telling.
There are plenty of public domain video clips and photos of both Harry and Meghan over the past few days.
I don't need to justify my opinions about them to anyone. If you want to defend their track record over the past 6 years, go ahead. But don't expect me to agree with you.
For the Sussexes of Montecito, everything changed on July 3, 2022 as they ascended then descended the steps of St Paul's Cathedral in London.
Royal watchers have dissected every part of their attendance at HM the Queen's jubilee service of thanksgiving that day...
Like anyone diagnosed with a severe PD, #AmberHeardDeservesJustice in the form of accessing effective medical care, asap.
The nature of her PD is that she lacks insight into her need for care.
Those who love her should enable it. She deserves that basic kindness from them.
People diagnosed with a PD like Amber's and who have her considerable access to resources, can access expert, high quality therapeutic services in a safe and private environment in the US. PD lack of insight requires short term limiting of a patient's right to informed consent.
The professional expectation and the loved ones' hope is that such patients would, over time, gain at least some insight into the diagnosis and the consequent need for secure care. Such care can reduce the damage the patient can do to their own interests, at least temporarily.
