In an article denouncing on-going Russian investigations into Ukrainian captives for "crimes against peace," @NYTimes correspondent @MarcSantoraNYT offers a full-throated tribute to the fascist Azov Battalion. He writes: 1/ #UkraineRussia#Nazi
"Those being investigated include members of the Azov regiment, who are widely regarded as heroes in Ukraine for holding out for weeks underneath a Mariupol steel plant as Russian forces bombarded the city at the end of one of the bloodiest battles of the war." 2/
Though acknowledging that the Azov Battalion "started out as a far-right militia" which "is now part of the Ukrainian National Guard," Santora, contradicting himself, denounces Russia's "unfounded claims about the influence of Nazism in the country." 3/
Obviously, the integration of Azov into the Ukrainian military is a demonstration of its influence. Moreover, Azov is not some small rag-tag neo-Nazi outfit. Its role not only in Ukraine but as a powerful force in international fascist militias is a well established fact." 4/
The NY Times, in the not all that distant past, reported extensively on the role of Azov in the military training of neo-Nazi militias, including groups active in the United States. On of the articles linked to a video report posted by Time Magazine. time.com/5926750/azov-f… 5/
The NY Times and its reporters, corrupt cheerleaders for American imperialism and its proxy war in Ukraine, are presenting as "heroes" out and out Nazis. 6/6

The @UAW won't give WSWS labor editor @jerrywhiteSEP press credentials for its upcoming Constitutional Convention, writing: "Thank you for your patience while we reviewed all the applications from established news organizations. We are not issuing you a media credential." 1/
There is no explanation for this decision. But the reason is obvious. The WSWS is a socialist publication, which exposes the betrayals of the UAW and the red-baiting and high-paid pro-corporate flunkeys who control the organization. It is read by thousands of UAW members. 2/
The letter to Jerry White is signed by Raenell Glenn, the assistant director of the UAW's Public Relations Department. The bottom of Ms. Glenn's email includes the tag line: "To whom much is given much is required." Her annual salary is $147,209. 3/
The sudden dismissal by #Zelensky of the head of #Ukraine's Security Services and the chief prosecutor amid the opening of treason investigations into 651 state officials clearly indicates a major crisis within the regime. 1/ #UkraineRussiaConflict
Contrary to claims that Ukraine is absolutely united in the continuation of the war, the massive purge - amid allegations of pro-Russian treason at the highest levels of the state - indicates that there is substantial opposition to the war, even within Zelensky's inner circle. 2/
The #NYTimes writes: "While Ukraine is largely united in its opposition to Russia’s invasion, its deep cultural and historical ties with Russia have translated, in parts of the country, to pockets of support for Moscow." 3/
The Washington Post reports: "President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed the head of Ukraine’s security services and its prosecutor general on Sunday, later announcing that hundreds of criminal investigations for suspected “treason and collaboration activities” were underway..." 1/
Among those dismissed is Ivan Bakanov, the head of Ukraine’s security services and also a childhood friend of Zelensky. Bakanov also ran Zelensky's presidential campaign in 2019 as well as his entertainment company. Is he now suspected of treason. 2/
Zelensky has also removed Iryna Venediktova, Ukraine's prosecutor general. She is also a long-time associate of Zelensky. Is she also suspected of treason? 3/
No less significant than his meeting with the killer Crown Prince were Biden's private discussions in Jeddah with the Butcher of Cairo, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. He seized power in a 2013 military coup that brutally suppressed the Egyptian Revolution. 1/ #HumanRights
In its latest annual report, Human Rights Watch presents a bleak picture of conditions in Egypt: 2/
"In 2021, authorities escalated the use of the abusive Emergency State Security Courts to prosecute peaceful activists and critics who joined thousands of dissidents already in Egypt’s congested prisons. 3/
The New York City Emergency Management Department has posted a public service announcement advising residents what they should do in the event of a #NuclearAttack 1/
Incredibly, the video begins: "So there's been a nuclear attack. Don't ask me how or why. Just know that the big one has hit." Then comes the advice: 1) Get inside; 2) Stay inside, stay away from windows, and shower if exposed to radioactive fallout; 3) Stay tuned. 2/
Just think how many lives might have been saved if the people of #Hiroshima and #Nagasaki had taken these steps! What the fantasists who created the video fail to mention is that a hydrogen bomb strike would reduce most of New York City to flaming rubble within seconds. 3/
The Kiev government has withdrawn Andrej Melnyk as ambassador to Germany to contain the backlash against his defense of Stepan Bandera - the anti-Semitic leader of the fascist Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists that collaborated with the Nazis' extermination of Jews. 1/
Melnyk's unreserved praise of Bandera cut across the media's efforts to present the issue of Ukrainian fascism as a Russian invention. Therefore, the response in the United States has been to play down, if not entirely ignore, Melnyk's comments and the ensuing controversy. 2/
A particularly filthy example of the effort to minimize the political significance of Melnyk's glorification of the fascist mass murderer is this column by @andreaskluth originally published by @opinion and reprinted in the @washingtonpost. 3/
