This is going to be an emotional & nostalgic moment for me.
My childhood was all about passion for the Tricolour. I desired to see Tiranga on rooftop of Nath Cottage (house built by my Dadaji) each day.
2/n Though I couldn’t as I would be told that it is illegal to have #Tiranga unfurled on normal days.
As I would return from school on August 14, playing my part in decoration regarding the celebration next day, I would rush to find appropriate flagstaff.
3/n Most of the time it would be the discarded staff (bamboo) of the Ramanavami Dhwaj of last year though I tried best to arrange metallic pipe all along.
I would disband one of the broom at house, to find a metallic wire (it tied the whole broom together).
4/n I would use that metal wire to tie, one of the metallic bangles to my Mother to be used as pulley.
By the time all these things would get over, the Hazaribagh shall turn dark & night would knock in.
5/n As usual, the old Hazaribagh times, power won’t be there & I would request my mother to not turn off chullah after cooking dinner & I would heat the”Iron Box”to iron the flag.
With all excitement I would wait for clock to turn 4:30 am thinking how beautiful it would be.
6/n I would slowly open the wooden door leading to backyard as noiselessly as possible(so that no one gets alarmed & push me back to bed) with the tools to dig earth.
In lantern light I would initiate digging earth & by the time I finish, the Sun would be up.
7/n And then I would find “Surti”with which the #Tiranga would be tied.
& then through my mother’s bangle as pulley I’ll tie the whole system.
Next, I will swiftly pluck flowers from my garden, so that my father doesn’t notices it.
8/n The flowers of large Nath Cottage, were no less than children to my father, for he had planted all hundreds of them with utmost care.
Many he had named on me, my sister & cousins.
9/n I would tie the flowers within the flag & the whole system for flag unfurling would be ready by 6:15-6:30 am.
Then I would quickly rush for bath & in passing would inform Dadi to be chief guest for my event.
10/n I would sport, addhi Kurta Payjama, long back gifted to me by one of my uncles in Gaya.
I would then quickly paddle out my bicycle to fetch Jalebis from “Sahu” Uncle’s Mithai ki dukaan.
11/n & again in passing I would have informed each one in house to be ready for #Tiranga unfurling asap.
By the time I’m back my cousins would have drawn rangoli below the flag staff.
"India whose ancient borders stretched until Afghanistan, lost with the country of seven rivers (the Indus Valley), the historical center of her civilization.
At a time when the Muslim invaders seemed to have lost some of their extremism & were ready to assimilate themselves to other populations of India, the European conquerors, before returning home, surrendered once more to Muslim fanaticism the cradle of Hindu civilization."
Says the French Socilaist Philosopher, Jacques Ellul :
"One ought not to forget that the terrible war of 1947 in India between the Muslims and Hindus was fought on a purely religious basis.
In Hindu Dharma, the quest is to discover Bhagwan. At times, the path may “appear” atheistic or agnostic too.
On the other hand, non-Indic Religions, the quest is to follow dictate of the known “God” as allegedly given by prophets.
When you are left not to discover, the creativity ceases & it brings the end to progress.
As a simple case, I can say that being ritualistic without an essence of “Adhyatma” is worst form of idol worship which is too far from “Murti Pujan.”
And very likely in non-Indic case, you rely faith on a form of practices which has left no scope to discover or seek the almighty for you are already told that what he is.
You worship an idol of ideals which does not exist in physical form but that imagery lies in your mind.
Because people are happily taking about 80 year #QuitIndiaMovement, I thought to collate few interesting pointers in this thread which.
C Rajagopalachari, Gandhi’s earliest lieutenant & “Conscious Keeper!” was against QIM. He said as below:
“There is no reality in the fond expectation that Britain will leave the country in simple response to a Congress slogan. Besides, by asking the British to leave, the Congress was issuing an open invitation to a colonising power more brutal by far, the Japanese.”
I though to write this thread of rants as many friends try best to put or discard self from the bracket of #Liberals . But do they exactly know what it means to be a Liberal?
I asked this question to many but most had varying, diverging answers.
Most just gave an answer because they did't wished to remain speechless. In the time of now, we have forgotten the art of staying quite if answer is not known to us and we just jump to give an answer by hook or crook.
They did the same.
Of course, you must first know the disease that you are claiming to be suffering from. Symptoms must be known and hence it was my prime objective to learn there definitions.
Then I suggested all of them the steps that I chose to know any subject:
Experiment, Observe and Infer.
