1/ Two weeks ago Moonbeam introduced the first proof-of-concept for EVM access through XCM via Runtime 1701- a big step forward in unifying functionality cross-chain #connectedcontracts

What does this mean?

2/ Although still in its testing phase, XCM-to-EVM call functionality will allow devs on other parachains to trigger function calls on Moonbeam’s EVM

3/ This means that parachains on @Polkadot will be able to tap into the Moonbeam EVM to carry out functions remotely & opens the door for new connected contract use cases that exist between many chains ⛓🔁⛓
4/ While XCM-integrated chains will be able to interact with Moonbeam’s EVM to execute transactions trustlessly using Substrate-native logic...
5/ Developers will also be able to use #EVM over #XCM to access GMP protocols like @axelarcore to communicate with other blockchains such as @ethereum, @cosmos, & @avalancheavax
6/ For now, this feature exists only on Moonbase Alpha, however, there are plans to bring this technology to @MoonriverNW & @MoonbeamNetwork in the near future

1/ We are aware that many Moonbeam community members remain deeply impacted by the Nomad bridge hack two weeks ago. It’s hard not to be affected by an incident of this size, and the reverberations have been felt across the entire ecosystem.
2/ We know people are hurting & we feel for everyone directly or indirectly affected. This incident has been a tremendous hit to our community & has impacted some individuals more than others. Especially for those of you more directly impacted, know that we are grieving with you.
3/ We, like the rest of the community, are closely following Nomad’s public communications for visibility into recovery efforts, and we hope for a speedy and fair resolution to this horrible incident.

2/ 🚀 Moonbeam added cross-chain capabilities, introducing $xcDOT, an XC-20 representation of $DOT on its parachain. DOT token holders can now deposit their tokens for use in #DeFi on Moonbeam.

3/ 🔗 Moonbeam in collaboration with @AcalaNetwork launched the first cross-chain connection using XCM on #Polkadot.

This XCM-based connection enables native communications & token transfers between Moonbeam and Acala without the need for bridges.🔥

1/ A new proposal for changes to staking on Moonbeam and @MoonriverNW will be put forward for democratic vote. 🗳

The proposal is to remove staking rewards for tokens unbonded by delegators during the unbonding process.

2/ Moonbeam’s current staking implementation allows delegators to receive staking rewards for tokens that are being unbonded. This new proposal will disincentivize this behavior by no longer providing staking rewards during the unbonding period.
3/ ✅ The change poses a significant benefit to the collator community and the network as a whole.

Without this proposed change, unstable delegations can incentivize delegators to stake with only top-selected collators and work against the decentralization of the network.

3/ Runtime upgrade 1201 was enacted in support of Ethereum London (EIP-1559) on @MoonriverNW and #Moonbeam.

This update will serve as the building blocks for a full EIP-1559 implementation and improve governance and multi-chain functionality.
