Too many people are suffering the domino effects of challenges that know no borders. In the face of global crises, global solutions are needed.
Here are π ways you can take action for a world where no one is left behind on #WorldFoodDay & beyond π§΅π
1β£ Be better informed
If you want to do your part, the first step is to know what is happening in the world. You can read newspapers, listen to the radio, or search for news online, but make sure that your sources are #verified & reliable.
Letters, tweets, posts or emails can be a very effective way of urging decision-makers to act, for example, by asking them to accelerate action towards achieving the #SDGs.
Even small gestures can bring about change: eating local food, seasonal, local & sustainably grown fruit & vegetables; choosing food with less packaging; buying less plastic; reusing & recycling containers.
All you have to do is switch off lights or appliances when you donβt need them. You can also reduce energy consumption by purchasing energy-efficient products or picking foods that are not resource-intensive, like pulses for instance.
Be a role model for your community. Recognise peopleβs abilities & be inclusive. Take an active role in improving your community or volunteer your time to help others. To build a world where no one is left behind, every action counts.
Enough food is produced today to feed everyone on the planet.
You read that right.
The problem is access & availability of nutritious food, which is increasingly impeded by multiple challenges.
π§΅π
These include #COVID19 pandemic, conflict, the #ClimateCrisis, inequality, rising prices & international tensions, & they are threatening our #FoodSecurity.
People around the world are suffering the domino effects of challenges that know no borders.
Our goal is to build a world where everyone, everywhere has regular access to enough nutritious food. A world where no one is left behind.
Ahead of this #WorldFoodDay, we want to share a few inspiring stories of #FoodHeroes who are helping to build a better world for all.
