speaker came up and tried to do a "thought" experiment. Here's the thing though, thought experiments are always controlled exercises in leading someone to a pre-determined end goal. I use them in my writings, they are NOT open ended, "lets see what comes out of this" exercises.
Both the CPC letter and the "thought experiment" were designed to create the idea that "western diplomacy" was a viable option and had a viable even supreme role to play in ending the #Russianinvasionofukraine. Both of those are sitting on a foundation of neo-colonialist thought
that presumes my life and comfort as a westerner is more important than the ongoing #GenocideOfUkrainians. The #Ukrainians doing the fighting, suffering and dying are reduced to mere natives to be horse traded amongst the great powers. People, borders, lands, and resources are
not really #Ukraine's to do with as she sees fit. More importantly her future, culture and society are not her own to do with as her people desire but rather all are subject to great power veto. Its a line of reasoning straight out of the colonial era and I reject it. Yes we are
one's paying the bills. Bills we offered to pay. If those bills come with strings attached that disadvantage Ukraine though all we really are, are the "nice (bad) guy" that expect a "happy ending" because we paid for dinner. Any of you raising daughters to put out of someone buys
them something? Any of my female readers think they owe sex to men with a wallet? Didn't think so, and it's wrong to expect an entire nation to accept whore status as a pre-condition to not being murder/rape victims. There are many reasons to support Ukraine, none of them give
us the right to leave any part of Ukraine under the occupiers boot. Ask Poland how well that worked out after 1945. Or ask the Czechs and Slovaks how well it worked out after 1938 or or or... Lots of historical examples we could pick from. In a post-imperial/ post-colonial world
we help the victim of aggression not to advance our own interests, but because the ideal and rules based order we want sees all people's as equally entitled to chartering their own course. Every single time we fail to live up to this ideal we get mountains of skulls. Look at
Syria, another victim of Russian aggression. Our inability to enforce red lines against WMD use lead Russia and Assad to more WMD use, barrel bombs and cities and people reduced to rubble and graveyards. Last night the "thought experimenter" ended up upset over what he called
maximalist and emotionalist responses from the space. As if such are bad things... Another speaker rightly pointed out that only party seeking maximalist outcomes was Russia. Ukraine has no desire for Russian territory. Putin and his cronies are the ones demanding they be given
something or else. What to avoid nuclear fire, keep the lights on and radiators hot: give us something. Thats blackmail with a heaping side of murder. It also lays out very clearly what we have to do in response. We must do three things. Support Ukraine as best we can with our
1st: talents and resources. Giving to charities like @MriyaAid, @UkraineAidOps, @3xR_team, @U24_gov_ua or other reliable charities. Or donating time or other meaningful personal actions. Which brings up 2nd: communicate our desires to our political representatives. That Ukraine
be provided with the tools, support and political cover to liberate her people and her lands. 3rd: swat down any appearance of the neo-colonial thought or Russian dis-info that tries to change the narrative of Ukraine as victim to Ukraine as pawn/aggressor. #NAFO #FELLAS have

and China. Go back a few more years and you add Ottomans (Turkey), go back some more and you add the rest of the stans go forward and add in former Axis powers and you add Germany, Japan, Hungary, The countries of the former Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Albania and others. Russia never
respects borders and has invaded far more times than she has been invaded. She is a colonial power and a relic from an age we do not need to see reborn. The only acceptable stance from us or from our governments is Until Ukraine Wins On Ukraine's Terms: Slava Ukraini!
