This is a proposition to offer to #MAID people who have been detained in prison/ after 6 months

This is not autonomy; this is a potential pipeline from suicidal ideation/criminal activity to death

Proposed "Mental Health" Pipeline
1: You struggle with ideations
2: You attempt and are detained against your will
3: After 6 months of isolation from society in custody you are offered a "mercy death"

Does that sound like autonomy?

Proposed "Criminal Justice" Pipeline
1: Commit a crime that leads to more than 6 months imprisonment
2: Offered access to a "mercy death" if you consent

What differences does this proposed "solution" have from the death penalty? What similarities?
Do you trust the reporting system to red flag any potential coercion? Do you trust the safeguards?
Is this what we want as a #MentalHealth system?

Is this #CriminalJustice?

If they pick death while in prison/psychiatric care is that really an independent choice? Potentially the lowest point in their life?

One of the prominent arguments in criminal justice is that imprisonment is an investment in the future of the person being detained

If we offer them death before they have even finished their sentence doesn't that undermine this intention completely?

If #MAID is to be incorporated into these systems

Are we just making a death sentence by any other name? A death sentence that makes us feel as though it's autonomy in action
These are dark implications that come from the mental illness clause

We are opening pandora's box

There is no objective standard to define "existential suffering" and the safeguards are theoretical
We live in a system with biases against the Disabled and Mad

This is a life sentence of institutionalized ableism and sanism that coerces the people "suffering" into an early death? This is Eugenics by any other name
prison/psych ward*

damn
Losing track of the ways the mental health sunset clause can be used to advocate for greater access

Euthenasia is being normalized and institutionalized as a "solution to suffering"

The media suggesting a slippery slope aren't looking at all these pipelines, almost no one knows
I'm dedicating time to it nearly every day just to stay aware

It's not even enough; I still am ignorant to an extent

Even I can't keep track of the potential new pipelines to access an early death; what chance does the public have at awareness?
The polls mean nothing

No one is aware of what is going on

Dying with Dignity is calling the shots, unopposed and stacking every panel and committee claiming expertise
Tired of experts appealing to polls

The polls show serious concerns unless you specifically cherry pick the Dying With Dignity funded polls

Yes, they have more funding than Disability Rights orgs

Yes, they have more lobbying power
Don't fail to see how most of the people with "existential suffering" are Disabled, Mad, Racialized, Women If you appeal to authority what are you co-signing?

We live in a land of Genocides; last coerced sterilization was prosecuted in 2019
How does our legal system prevent medical coercion?

What biases exist in the institutions to hide medical coercion? What evidence do you cite?

"The most comprehensive survey of psychiatrists on the topic to date showed most psychiatrists who responded oppose euthanasia for sole mental illness"

"However, many(psychiatrists) are also reluctant to speak out since they fear potential backlash ... "

"Remember that the public has been told MAiD is supposed to be for “irremediable” medical conditions (i.e. when we can predict the condition will not improve). In terms of science and evidence, it is clear that there is no science or evidence that mental illness can be predicted"

You mean to tell us you are responsible for thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of deaths?

You mean to tell us that you lied about masking and isolation? That you gaslighted honest concerns and fueled infection advocacy?
Oh what's that?

You still won't make voting accessible?

If you wanted to wait for the election now you have the worst of both worlds; pissed everyone off both infection advocates and everyone who wasn't gaslighted into giving up
Are you saying that vaccinations aren't enough to control the spread of covid?

You mean to tell me we've just given it 2 years and millions of infections to evolve into something we are less able to control?

Who could have possibly seen this coming?

This was the reasoning behind fast-tracking the #MAID legislation #BillC7(bypassing the regular process of appeal)

@DavidLametti why you appeal to process when it comes to raising support amounts, but appeal to emotion on this

How much longer do they have to suffer?

This is the result of #MAID expansions on our collective morality and ethics

Eric's right that if you support the current MAID regime that it's logically consistent to support at least some infanticide for #Eugenics
"Less suffering overall" is legitimately the stated goal of Eugenics through the manipulation of reproduction

It's goals aren't mean or cruel specifically they appeal to a sense of empathy and compassion like eric does

What did Carter and Truchon cases actually identify as concerns with expanding #MAID access to those "suffering with mental illness"

Will you listen to one side of this debate without knowing the history? Here's some quotes from the cases "supporting expanding MAID"
#CdnPoli
Reminder: The mental illness clause was added in the supreme court

The people who added this to the legislation aren't elected and are not directly accountable to the electorate
Jocelyn here is invested in the #MAID regime, a sunken cost

I'm not sure whether they support access for mental illness

I don't expect them to raise concerns about it if they have some privately held beliefs against some access; they have a sunken cost in supporting #MAID

#MAID proponents would rather default to lying to themselves than just looking into claims made

Make no mistake this lack of interest in double-checking data is entirely self-serving; a quick google backs up what Carla says here
I don't suspect Jocelyn here is misleading us on purpose

I believe their Faith in the #MAID regime gives them reasons to jump to assumptions about accessibility without looking at the data that would confirm/deny the claim
Their following claim is just as bereft of citation

Their claim to the charter is not valid, in fact the discrimination inherit of only allowing access to Disabled people to #BillC7 pointed out by the UN is more likely to be a violation of the charter
