Some thoughts. Bear with me in this #thread. Jayalalithaa died on Dec 5, 2016. In the absence of a tall leader, TN suffered many attacks. Barely a month after she died, Vardah puyal hit Chennai resulting in bad damages. Ok, natural calamity, can't help it. (1/n)
But next came Jallikattu protests. Names of extreme Left wing radical organisations floated about. Makkal Adhigaram, Revolutionary Front of India and whatnot. This was not a spontaneous protest. It was engineered. (2/n)
Black t-shirts were distributed in villages around Alanganallur. Food and liquor was in free supply. Villagers thronged to sit in protest and why not? Who did all this? A certain illegal sand mafia working at the behest of a political party. (3/n)
Only one Tamil news channel's crew were allowed on Marina Beach. They set up a huge LED screen airing their own channel. Guess who owns it? Okay, so protest blueprint was set. Peaceful protests culminating in violence after a point. (4/n)
Then came the various protests against oil exploration. Fizzled out after a point coz there were no takers and EPS announced Delta a protected zone. Ok problem solved temporarily. Then came 8-lane expressway protests. (5/n)
That was big with sporadic clashes with the police. But EPS again stepped in and called it off so bussss happened. Same names came up in all protests Jallikattu onwards. All extreme LW radicals supported by one political party. Beautiful tango. (6/n)
And then Sterlite protests. An example in perfection in terms of organising protests. Money poured in from abroad. Resulted in the deaths of 13 innocents who believed the propaganda. (7/n)
Don't believe me. Aruna Jegadeesan report names the same names involved from Jallikattu onwards. So what do we understand from this? Than vinai thannai sudum. It's a matter of time. And I'll personally be waiting and watching. (n/n)

Let me add to this tweet by my friend @nav_journo . I too took the trouble to read the entire SC judgement. What is glaring is that the allegations are all refuted by hard inalienable facts. Not by circumstantial or deniable arguments. Let me explain in a thread. (1/n)
1. Zakia Jafri & Teesta Setalvad said the Godhra carnage itself was done by RW groups in order to start riots. Apart from this, they alleged that then CM @narendramodi deliberately did not step in & instead encouraged the carnage.
(2/n)
2. Sanjiv Bhatt IPS: Alleged that he was in a meeting with then CM on the night of the riots and Modi said let Hindus do what they want for 3 days.
3. RB Sreekumar IPS alleged that police were instructed by CM and Ministers to stay mum while riots were happening.

I haven't seen the SLP filed by the TN govt. But now that I have gone through the order by Justice GR Swaminathan, I am sharing some thoughts here about the order itself - well, because it's a free country. #thanjavur#ariyalur#student#suicide.
(1/n)
No one doubts that conversion takes place in TN. It is not illegal. In fact it is a fundamental right to propagate one's religion as per Constitution. It is only forced conversion which is illegal. (2/n)
Justice GRS seems to ignore these when he quotes the Bible, movies and even refers to a magazine article to say conversion takes place. Yes, we know. But what if, as you did, petitioners refer to movies to bolster their arguments since they contain 'kernels of truth'? (3/n)
Let me tell you what happened in 2017 when I was briefly employed with a Tamil news channel. #thread
#Anitha took her life. Obviously the newsroom went crazy. Channel boss wanted full live, hammer, tongs, the works. #neet (1/n)
So began the circus. I panicked, ran to PCR & asked everyone to dial it down. Explained copycat suicides to channel boss. Asked anchors, PCR team to stay calm, don't sensationalize, put out suicide prevention helpline numbers. Went ok for a bit. (2/n)
Then as I watch, full live of body of that child in a freezer box on air. Anchors, reporters heaving, shouting high pitched rhetoric. My pleas were ignored. This went on for days. More kids died by their own hand. Ripple effect. But the circus wouldn't stop. (3/n)
Lots of numbers, very confusing yes, I know. So let me try & break down our expose for you all. If any doubts, pls don't hesitate to ask.
Crux: 252 unexplained deaths on average EVERY SINGLE DAY in May 2021 in #Chennai alone.
I'll tell you how I calculated this. #Thread (1/n)
1. Got into Chennai Corporation site & pulled out all death certificates issued to male/female/transgender persons. This was done for EACH DAY from May 1, 2021 to May 31, 2021. Total death certificates issued in May 2021 by GCC = 15,920 @IndiaAheadNews@mkstalin@RAKRI1 (2/n)
2. Now we need to compare this raw data. Same exercise done for May 1 to May 31, 2020 (first wave). That worked out to 6559 death certificates in total issued in May 2020. @Subramanian_ma@GSBediIAS (3/n)
