There's a series of interlinked Discord groups for Britain's cops. You must show policing ID – such as a warrant card – to gain entry.

These groups are packed full of misogyny, racism + homophobia that – quite frankly – makes the recent WhatsApp revelations look tame.🍎
Over the next week or so, I'm going to share excerpts from these groups, which – collectively – have a membership of many hundreds of police officers. And of course, we can be certain they're emergency services workers as they all foolishly flashed their ID to join the group.🍏
The @metpoliceuk has launched a #NotInMyMet campaign to combat misogyny, racism + other forms of discrimination, after Sarah Everard's death at the hands of a serving officer.

Unfortunately, many police officers show huge contempt towards this training on women's safety.🍎 Image
The Discord cops regularly target the head of the National Black Police Association for highlighting racial disparities.

They make several attempts to co-ordinate Twitter pile-ons to his account, in response to his inoffensive, everyday tweets.🍏 Image
I would also like to highlight the Discord cops' lies about me.

Despite their repeated claims, I don't have a husband. I've certainly never dated anyone who got 9 months imprisonment for failing to provide an iPhone passcode.🍎 Image
There have been a mere 2 convictions for this offence since 2015. I've never met the 2 defendants + don't know their names.

But the Internet cops like to portray me as "connected to criminals", so they can "discredit" my drug reform campaigning.🍏
Here are some more lies + nasty comments about me. They call my toddler a "crack baby" + say she consumed meth in the womb, falsely claiming her dad's in jail. Image
Oh dear, seems the Discord police don't like politicians much either.

Is there anyone they actually do like?🍎

FYI, @DC_Police, he's one of your lot + he's said some bad stuff.😉

He's also a staunch Lib Dem. Image
Most of the hatred in these groups is directed at women, black + brown people + LGBT folk.

Here's what they say about a vulnerable girl who was the victim of human trafficking.🍏 Image
Here's the most upsetting post of this thread.

Britain's cops openly joke about the death of black Londoner, Chris Kaba, who was killed by their colleague in the @metpoliceuk.

They even share derogatory memes about Kaba who was about to become a dad.🍎 Image
NB: do note the low-key misogyny whereby this officer uses Katie Price's name in place of his own, with a derisory comment in brackets.

Imagine how you'd feel if the police – Britain's supposed protectors – used your name in such a manner.🍏
These police officers say people who highlight racism are "fucking ridiculous" and "entitled".

Note the casual violence in the first screenshot.🍎 ImageImage
Thank you to the people who helped me access these groups.

Editors: I can provide more info about these Discord groups on request.🍏

The police repeatedly requested my phone passcodes in the interview + kept returning to this topic + pressuring me.

One of them said, "You're under a duty to disclose the passcodes + we're requesting them formally. Your refusal means that you may be committing a RIPA offence."
I was under no duty to hand these passcodes over. They hadn't obtained a RIPA notice.

Furthermore, the police knew that I was a journalist when they applied for their s8 search warrant, but didn't declare it when asked if they knew of any info that undermined their application.
FYI, you're not supposed to apply for this warrant if you suspect that the material you intend to seize might contain journalism.

The warrant stated that they were searching for materials relevant to drug supply such as phones + notebooks. 🤷‍♀️

🧵 An innocent 46-year-old woman was knocked unconscious + hospitalised – with serious long-term injuries – by a police officer in Feb. 2024.

Yet the police are refusing to release the officer’s body cam footage or CCTV, only allowing her + a friend to view it at the station.
The woman was on a night out + the police were dealing with a fight, while she was trying to leave a Guernsey club.

Footage shows her speaking to a male officer.

Witnesses say she expressed concern that officers were using batons + being heavy-handed to the public.
However, the well-built officer suddenly + unexpectedly lost his temper with her.

Even though she wasn’t violent + is very physically small, he threw her so violently that she landed 2.7 metres away, in a road.

In England, police can put a marker on a central database to say you're suspected of benefiting from crime with ZERO evidence to support this false claim + the banks will close your accounts, leaving you bank-less.

I've no criminal charges/convictions, but now no banking access. Image
Just like for an arrest, the threshold for this marker is "reasonable suspicion".

A police officer's "reasonable suspicion" can get you de-banked for life, with no need for a judge, magistrate or independent person to review + approve this. 🤷‍♀️ Image
I'm a normal person – a single mum to a 6-year-old – who hasn't benefited from crime nor done anything else illegal.

Every payment into this bank account comes from a mainstream media outlet. Yet I'm forced to figure out how to pay the bills + buy groceries with no bank account.

🧵Ever wondered how @MetPoliceUK officers feel about Baroness Casey's review into misogyny, racism + homophobia in policing?

Fortunately, many serving cops shared their opinions via the force's intranet.

Here's a thread of their comments.🍎

(1/10)
Cliff's heard it all before + he ain't buying the bullshit.

Like a drug dealer caught shottin' weed, he's feeling victimised by how the Met blames people for their "wrongdoing".

I guess some folk call it a blame culture, but others call it taking responsibility for your actions
Jon wants everyone to know it's #notallmen + #notallcops.

In fact, some women are violent too.

Ofc, he doesn't trust the media + reckons the BBC's probably manipulated the statistics to make it look like police officers are randomly assaulting people on their day off.

THREAD: The retired railway cop, Norman Brennan, is often inaccurately described on TV as a knife + gun crime “expert", as well as a homocide “specialist” + "former Metropolitan Police officer".

It’s really disappointing, as Brennan is none of these things. Image
He has almost no operational – or professional research – experience of homocide nor knife + gun crime. And he’s never been a Metropolitan Police officer.

There’s also the inescapable fact that he’s not worked in policing for 13 years.
Instead, Brennan’s intent on promoting a Culture War between the police + general public by making unhelpful, uninformative statements about LGBT people, black + brown folk, women + frankly anyone who isn't like him. ImageImageImage

A mother just told me her son has been on remand – in prison – for almost a year after being supected of couriering an ounce of a class B drug.
The prosecution submitted a truly ludicrous valuation of this substance to the court – and they've provided no evidence to substantiate this price whatsoever, despite repeated requests from the defence.
Unsurprisingly, the defendant invested their time + money in commissioning an independent drug valuation expert. This specialist agreed that the valuation was astonishing, even saying he'd never seen anything so unbelievable with no supporting evidence.
