It's been a busy week across the north of Europe so just in time for some weekend reading, here's a taste of our @euronews reporting of some pretty fascinating stories you might not have seen elsewhere:
🇩🇰 Starting with the general election in #Denmark, won by incumbent PM Mette Frederiksen who leads a left-wing bloc of parties:

🇩🇰 And what did we learn in the aftermath of the vote? I took a look at 5⃣ takeaways: from would-be kingmakers, to the ups & downs of the far-right and the outsize influence of 🇬🇱 #Greenland and 🇫🇴 #Faroes

euronews.com/my-europe/2022…
🇳🇴 #Norway raised its military alert level this week around critical energy infrastructure sites, after reports of drone sightings and concerns over possible 🇷🇺 Russian involvement.

🇫🇮 In #Finland, PM Sanna Marin has apologised to the Sámi people for lack of progress on guaranteeing human rights for indigenous people. That apology came after our story last week which highlighted the underreported problem. Journalism matters.

🇫🇮 Staying in #Finland for a moment, and @MarinSanna was cleared of any wrongdoing after complaints were filed that she neglected her official duties while partying with friends this summer (remember the dancing videos?)

🇸🇪 A Swedish man was charged with terrorism this week, after the stabbing death of a woman near the popular #Almedalen political festival on the island of Gotland in July. euronews.com/2022/11/01/swe…
🇩🇰 In #Norway two people died in a helicopter crash this week:

euronews.com/2022/11/01/two…
🇪🇪 #Estonia has the highest inflation in the eurozone, and this week I talked with two families and a supermarket chain to find out what it's like to balance the weekly grocery shopping bill with rising fuel prices

euronews.com/my-europe/2022…
🇪🇪 Staying with #Estonia again here, is it the most under-rated country in Europe? I can totally buy into that argument, yes! It's a fantastic place! euronews.com/travel/2022/11…
🇸🇪 Here's an intriguing #Sweden story: was the man investigating the Nord Stream pipeline explosions really killed by a bee sting and cremated within hours? That's one conspiracy theory circulating online, so @MTHolroyd took a closer look:

euronews.com/my-europe/2022…
🇳🇴 #Norway is raising its targets for cutting emissions, but at the same time won't abandon the (lucrative) oil industry 🧐 How does that even add up? My colleague @RosiecoFrost reported:
euronews.com/green/2022/11/…
🇸🇪🇫🇮 This story has been rumbling on for months but has a recent flurry of diplomatic activity pushed #Turkey and #Hungary any closer to approving NATO membership for #Sweden and #Finland?

euronews.com/2022/11/04/hun…
🇸🇪🇳🇴 And finally... it's apparently really easy to get confused between Halland and Haaland. One is a picturesque coastal region of western Sweden... and one is a famous Norwegian footballer. But which is which? ⚽️ euronews.com/2022/11/02/hal…

"She makes beautiful speeches in the Sámi Parliament. She promises things, but it doesn't happen. She has the power to act. But she doesn't."

In #Finland, PM @MarinSanna is being criticised for her lack of decisive action to safeguard human rights for indigenous people. Thread⬇️
Various 🇺🇳 United Nations organisations have been urging 🇫🇮 #Finland for years to sort out the human rights situation for Sámi people (the EU's only indigenous people) - and been very critical of the lack of progress to enshrine the rights of self-determination into law.
The good news? The Finnish government promised in its programme to finally pass a Sámi Parliament Act which would fix the contentious issues. All five parties signed up to this. PM Sanna Marin even visited the Sámi Parliament in June and said this was a priority for her 👀

🧵Here's a fun thread for Monday! If you like #climatecrisis #ilmastonmuutos, travel, adventure, #Finland 🇫🇮, entitlement, colonialism and not a hint of irony then I guarantee you'll love this story! ⬇️
Meet the cast of a new Finnish reality TV show! Wait, not a TV show, it's just reality. These folks are (mostly) entrepreneurs who went on an expedition to 🇬🇱 #Greenland. How exciting! But why did they go to Greenland, you ask?🤔
Good question! They flew all the way to Greenland not just to kayak, hike & shoot guns y'all. They went to find out about the impact of climate change. The glaciers are melting folks & the only way to learn about it is TO GO THERE IMMEDIATELY!
