This idea came to me thank to @happyrainstone and that time jump fic 🥰🥰

It took him months to find the right quirk user and in the end he was actually the easiest one to reach. Time travel quirks were always very restrained

And finding one in the wild was almost impossible in a society where most quirks were registered and monitored. The ones he found only made you live your past or could show you up to 1 day in advance but they were useless to him. His future had been destroyed 10 months ago

already, when Katsuki was killed on a mission by an unknown quirk user. At first he was consumed by the need for revenge, to find that person and make them pay, but he quickly realized that it wouldn’t bring Katsuki’s back, but quirks ? Maybe quirks could.

Katsuki was already dead for a month when he finally got out of his revenge chase and it was too late for the most extreme medical quirks, some who actually almost work like resurrection, the body was already in the ground and none of the worldwide expert he could find

Had any hope to bring back anybody whose body started to actively decompose. At most 72 hours was the latest any of them ever did it, and it had a less than 20% rate, which was still eons above what he got now : nothing.

If medicine and healing couldn’t help then, one thing may : going back.
And that’s when the months of looking for time travelers started.
But the ones he found could only send back his mind and temporarily and without any way to impact the world around him.

He’d just watch it like a movie and he knew that if he ever goes that way he would never leave that dream, staying there wasting away as he keeps watching again and again the happy time that he had with Katsuki

It was a challenge to find any time related quirk tho, the only one that could have been useful had only a 24 hours going back and even that was quite limited in application, but it was too late anyway.

It was 10 months after Katsuki’s death that Aizawa called Izuku from an unknown number.

“Problem child,” said the man as soon as Izuku accepted the call

“Aizawa-Sensei,” answered back the greenette, pouring himself a mug of coffee

“Are you alone?”

Izuku frowned at the question, wondering if maybe his old teachers wanted to visit him

“I’m at home now. Getting some coffee before I go on patrol”

“Good. Meet me on the roof of your building. I trust you can reach it with no problems” said the man before ending the call.

Izuku looked at his phone silently wondering what it was about before drinking his mug in one go, enjoying the burn of the coffee in his throat, these days it was the only sensations he was still able to feel.

He leaves the mug in the empty sink, goes to hall looking at the last picture of him and Katsuki at the winter festival, his heart squeezing hard at the sight of their happy smile before going to his room to quickly get dressed and open the window to float up to the roof

Five minutes after the end of their call the two heroes are standing together near the hedge of the roof

“Kirishima told me what you’re looking for” said the veteran

Izuku felt anger at the declaration, kirishima and shoto were the only ones that knew about his crazy chase and

both were more than doubtful about its success and about what failure would mean to Izuku’s mind

“Are you here to stop me? To tell the association that their number 7 is unhinged?”

“I’m here to give you what you want.”

Izuku’s lungs completely stopped at the declaration, his

mind going numb immediately before coming back with a strength it didn’t possessed in the last couple of months

He ran to his teacher, grabbing his shirt tightly

“What are you talking about?” he whispered

“As you know now, time travel quirks are extremely regulated. Probably the most regulated type of quirks that ever came to be. 90% of them are useless and can just give their suer an easy life bc usinf people memories and dreams can be easily monetized. Showing them their life

Decades ago and pretty pictures of happy times. I’d say 5 to 8 % actually do move in time but either for a very limited time or in a limited place. Like rewinding what happened in a house to 1 person. Those ones are often requested to work with secret service and the likes.

Any free user of this type of quirks could probably be a billionaire in 5 yrs depending of their luck. The last one, that’s the one you want. Can go back months, maybe years and the one they send back can actually change things, impacting the future entirely.

When one of those type appear the association take them away immediately.”

“Do they… do they kill them?” asks izuku, his heart already going rampant at the thought that any usefull person could have been killed before he got what he wanted, what he needed from them.

“No, they lock them up in a private area in Tartarus. They’re not technically in jail so they have it more or less easy, cooks, entertainment, the likes. They can just never leave the place, not without every top member of the Association agreeing to it. From what I know, they

let him go only three times in the 27 yrs that the current user they have had spend with them. And they used his powers twice. They agreed to a third time for you after All Might, Endeavor & myself pleaded for it. It appears that war heroes still have some powers in this world.”

“What are you saying?” Asked the greenette, tightening his hand on the man shirt before he feels Aizawa hands on his wrist, pulling them away from him and clasping them together

“They’re waiting for you Midoriya. They agreed that a world without Katsuki and without you would be

Detrimental to hero society.”

“Without me? I’m still here, I’m not the one that died.”

“No, but we all know, you included that if your search was to end up empty, you wouldn’t last. Katsuki was your world, as much as you were his”

Izuku’s eyes locked into Aizawa’s, looking

for any deception, fearing that it was a ploy to maybe have him committed but if it had any truth in it, he knew, just like Aizawa that he would follow the man anywhere.

Izuku grabs his old teacher under his arms and float them down the building, not even going back to his apartment to take anything, if there is a chance that everything is true then nothing in that place has any value anymore anyway.

They fall quickly to the ground and goes to the veteran hero’s car

If izuku was alone he would blackwhip his way to Tartarus but since Aizawa was the one that finally got what he was looking for he couldn’t leave him behind, also chances were that his presence was requested

It took thirty minutes to reach Tartarus, to Izuku it was my equally terribly slow and terribly fast
The fact that he was so close to what he wanted, what he longed for and also still so far from it was driving him crazy
As soon as the car stops in front of Tartarus entrance

Izuku is outside in a heartbeat and sees All Might, Endeavor, Shoto and Eijiro standing there with a few security guards

Izuku ignored all of them and turned to Aizawa, waiting for his guidance
As much as he was grateful for the consequences, the fact that Eijirou decided to speak to others about what Izuku was trying to achieve was not something that endeared him to the greenette

Aizawa nodded toward the door and the group slowly walk to it, the security guards opening the door for them and guiding them through the halls

The man ignored the attempts of Shoto and All Might to talk to him, glad that at least Endeavor wasn’t trying anything

They walked for a while, going to an area of Tartarus that Izuku never visited until today
The halls were a lot nicer and even if a few security guards were presents, most of the people they came across were dressed normally or in service uniform

“It’s the living area,” explained All Might when he saw Izuku’s eyes roaming all over the place, “the heads of the hero associations live here at least half of the time.There are around 20 different appartements and half of them are full everyday. We’re going to one for them now”

It takes them almost 15 minutes to reach the 4th floor where they’re guided inside an appartement
As soon as they enter Izuku can see Yokumiru Mera sitting on a couch next to a man, both look up to them as they enter the place

Mera stand up and join Izuku

“President” says the greenette with a small bow

“Hero Deku,” answers the man with a drawl, “ before we start I must say that it’s because of your role in the war that we’re doing this. The existence of that quirk is not something we advertise.

But we can’t have Japan lost two of his brightest heroes when we have the means to change that. The country is still too fragile to let its future in jeopardy. But today, Midoriya Izuku, you need to be aware that you will die.”

“Wha-what are you talking about?” stutters Izuku

“Let me explain Midoriya-San,” says the man as he stand up from the couch and goes to the small group of heroes in the room

“First I want to thank you for your hard work during the war,” continues to e man with a bow,” and how

Sorry I am for your loss.”

After his bow the man goes to the table and chairs, silently inviting every heroes to take a seat there

They all sit around the table looking at the man expectantly

“My quirk is called “Last Chance” and it can send somebody up to 300 days in the past. That’s the most I was able to do without having side effects for me or the subject I sent back”

The greenette can stop his mouth

Gaping at the revelation of the man in front of him, and he can see his emotion reflect on eijirou and shoto’s face
That quirk if it ever went public would probably cause the rise of a new League of Villain to grab that power
This is unheard of as far as he’s concerned

“Once the person is back they can act and change the past, really change it, in anyway they want. Once changes are done this reality will change as well. Only a few people around the world will realize that things changed. Me included.”

“This… this quirk …” stutters Izuku,

“It could have changed a lot of thing during the war, why wasn’t it used ? All the dead… all the thing we all went through … why wasn’t this quirk used? The league could have been caught months before, saving hundreds of people!” Shoot the young hero

“Because the main consequences of my quirk is that the person that goes back dies.”

Izuku’s mouth close with an audible click.

“What?” He gasp

“That’s why it calls “last chance”. Once you’re in the past your body in our time dies immediately, we were never able to save one in all the tests we did. And once you’re in the past. You’re not a person. You’re in your own body’s past. But you’re not the only one there.

Your past self is still there, you’re just a voice in their head. But you can take control of the body sometimes. You can act and influence. Your past self if aware of your existence and it’s like cohabiting, two consciousness in one body. But after a month, yours will fade.

The body will realize you’re not from there, or maybe it’s fate that balance the times? We’re not really sure, but at most you’ll have 30 days to do what you have to do to change things. If you take control of the body a lot then you’ll disappear earlier. That’s why we couldn’t

do anything during or after the war. It’s not easy to find somebody that is ready to die.”

Izuku couldn’t stop looking at the man in front of him. Dying? He’s been dead inside for months now, dying physically won’t add much. And he’ll be able to see and save Katsuki

To assure that his past self get the life that he couldn’t have because of that villain.

“Maybe you never met anybody that would do it for the war. But I’m ready. I’ve been ready since that day.”

“Young Midoriya … are you sure you understand everything that quirk entails?”

“I understand that it can bring back Katsuki and ensure that my past self doesn’t get mentally obliterated. I’m not dumb All Might, I know where I’m slowly going toward to… I know that I probably only have a couple month left before either my brain or heart can’t cope. I lost

Almost half my weight since he died. I can’t sleep, I only drink coffee. My body is still going only because of One For All. So yeah, I’m understanding quite clear. And I’m ready” finishes the greenette turning toward to the man.
“Let’s do it now, no need to lose more time”

“Once you’re gone from this time, everything may be rewritten and you will not be remembered. Nobody will mourn for you Midoriya,” says Aizawa, “are you sure you’re ready to be forgotten?”

“But I won’t. This me may disappear but Midoriya Izuku will still live, and be happy. And

Once my mission is complete and I die I don’t know if ill just disappear or if ill meet my own Kacchan again but it doesn’t matter. As long as I can save his life in any universe or reality or whatever you want to call it.”

“Then if you’re sure we will proceed immediately,”‘says the president,” You can’t bring anything with you and Mahiro here doesn’t need long to prepare as he’s healthy and well rested. We will move to the guest room. Say your goodbyes Midoriya-san, after all you’ll be among the

Only ones to remember it all soon enough so at least leave at peace.”
