Voter turnout this morning was “very, very” strong and fairly steady in Newmarket, averaging one ballot every 10 seconds, according to Moderator Christopher Hawkins.
At this rate, Newmarket is on track to hit 60%-70% voter turnout, Hawkins said. #NHPolitics#ElectionDay
Newmarket started #ElectionDay with 6,649 registered voters and expects to add 200-300 same-day registrants, Hawkins said.
There were 1,762 filled-out ballots collected in-person at the town’s polling site, as of 11:45 a.m., plus roughly 440 absentee ballots returned, he said.
Outside the Newmarket polling site, Kate “Granite Granny” Bossi, 58, held a sign encouraging voters to have their ballots hand counted. (To do so, voters simply needed to put their completed ballots in a bin next to the counting machine.) #Election2022
Hawkins said about 20-30 ballots were in the hand-count bin, as of 11:45 a.m., though there will be more to hand-count among the absentee ballots. #ElectionDay

Don’t feign ignorance about Sen. Josh Hawley’s “questions.” He was making a statement. His claim? That trans men & nonbinary people who can get pregnant are ~actually~ women. He’s asserting that their reproductive organs define their gender.
That’s literally ✨transphobic✨.
Imagine if Hawley were to ask me, “Don’t you think you & your husband are just confused straight men?”
His “question” would clearly be ✨homophobic✨.
(If you claim someone is delusional for embracing an LGBTQ identifier, you’re being some kind of -phobic.)
Hawley can choose to make transphobic comments. (Clearly he derives some inhumane political benefit in doing so.) When he does – such as claiming trans men are delusional women – the non-simpletons among us can & should confidently say that qualifies as transphobia.
Collins credited Sen. Todd Young of Indiana with positioning himself to defend her and Murkowski as rioters neared senators inside the Capitol. bangordailynews.com/2021/01/11/opi…
Collins — who hasn't publicly called on Trump to resign, hasn't publicly urged @VP & cabinet to consider 25th Am., & has declined to say where she stands on impeachment, citing her role as a juror — said clearly that Trump incited the rioters. bangordailynews.com/2021/01/11/opi…
Collins told us last fall she’s pushing for an ethos of moderate leadership, like that of Snowe and former GOP Sen. Margaret Chase Smith, to rebalance the divisive political dynamics in Washington. amp.seacoastonline.com/amp/42785027
