The chief communications officer for St. Anselm College tells me the school's mission remains unchanged, and NHIOP has a clear track record of welcoming a variety of political perspectives "to foster a healthy democracy." granitememo.com/rudy-giuliani-…
A lot has happened in the ~12 years since Giuliani received a #fitn award from Political Library at NHIOP. granitememo.com/rudy-giuliani-… #nhpolitics
Despite the event cancelation, Giuliani still weighed in Friday on #nhpolitics, with a livestream of his own. He was joined by NH GOP Chair Stephen Stepanek & Vice Chair Pamela Tucker. NH Dems criticized Stepanek and Tucker for joining Giuliani. granitememo.com/rudy-giuliani-…

Recounts underway now in NH House races today in Concord, including one race (Rockingham 5) that was decided by just 7 votes. @GraniteMemo #nhpolitics #nhleg Image
RECOUNT #1: No change in the outcome of the Rockingham 5 race. Confirms that Republican incumbent NH Rep. Cody Belanger lost his bid for re-election to Democratic challenger Mark Vallone. #nhleg #nhpolitics
The recount showed a tighter margin (5 votes rather than 7 votes) between the winning and losing candidates. Full results: Image

Hey, @TheRealNHSteve, if you wanted to know whether Brock funds @GraniteMemo, you could have asked. The answer is no. I fund it myself.

So far the site isn't paying anyone's bills, mine included. I took a buyout from my USA TODAY job effective last month.
Steve took issue with my article about the NH voter confidence committee. The group has been criticized for platforming baseless election claims.
Multiple members said they believe their draft report's summary of testimony includes unreliable info.

When I asked for a copy of the committee's draft report, I read it with an open mind. I wanted to know where they were headed. Then I saw how prominently they planned to feature unvetted claims without clear attribution, context, analysis or discussion. granitememo.com/nh-voter-confi…

Clearly an error in #nhsen results from NH SOS, which show 193 votes for Bolduc & 1106 for Hassan in Columbia (pop. ~660). sos.nh.gov/elections/elec…

Data from DDHQ & local media show 193 & 106 votes.
granitememo.com/nh-election-re…

colebrookchronicle.weebly.com

I’ve reached out to NH SOS. ImageImageImage
Hassan appears to have won the statewide race by roughly 55,000 votes. Her victory was projected by media outlets that recorded 106 votes for her in Columbia (not 1106), so these Columbia numbers aren’t going to change the outcome. Still, we need to understand & fix the error.
I have seen a post that makes obviously implausible claims about this apparent data entry error. I am in favor of skepticism that seeks real answers. I’ll let you know what I find out.

Voter turnout this morning was “very, very” strong and fairly steady in Newmarket, averaging one ballot every 10 seconds, according to Moderator Christopher Hawkins.

At this rate, Newmarket is on track to hit 60%-70% voter turnout, Hawkins said.
#NHPolitics #ElectionDay Sign outside Newmarket school says “Vote here today.”
Newmarket started #ElectionDay with 6,649 registered voters and expects to add 200-300 same-day registrants, Hawkins said.

There were 1,762 filled-out ballots collected in-person at the town’s polling site, as of 11:45 a.m., plus roughly 440 absentee ballots returned, he said.
Outside the Newmarket polling site, Kate “Granite Granny” Bossi, 58, held a sign encouraging voters to have their ballots hand counted. (To do so, voters simply needed to put their completed ballots in a bin next to the counting machine.) #Election2022 Outside the Newmarket NH polling site, 58-year-old Kate Boss

Don’t feign ignorance about Sen. Josh Hawley’s “questions.” He was making a statement. His claim? That trans men & nonbinary people who can get pregnant are ~actually~ women. He’s asserting that their reproductive organs define their gender.

That’s literally ✨transphobic✨.
Imagine if Hawley were to ask me, “Don’t you think you & your husband are just confused straight men?”

His “question” would clearly be ✨homophobic✨.

(If you claim someone is delusional for embracing an LGBTQ identifier, you’re being some kind of -phobic.)
Hawley can choose to make transphobic comments. (Clearly he derives some inhumane political benefit in doing so.) When he does – such as claiming trans men are delusional women – the non-simpletons among us can & should confidently say that qualifies as transphobia.

Sen. Susan Collins, in a column for @bangordailynews recounting her POV of the Capitol breach, says her first thought was D.C. might be under attack by Iran. bangordailynews.com/2021/01/11/opi… #mepolitics Image
Collins credited Sen. Todd Young of Indiana with positioning himself to defend her and Murkowski as rioters neared senators inside the Capitol. bangordailynews.com/2021/01/11/opi… Image
Collins — who hasn't publicly called on Trump to resign, hasn't publicly urged @VP & cabinet to consider 25th Am., & has declined to say where she stands on impeachment, citing her role as a juror — said clearly that Trump incited the rioters. bangordailynews.com/2021/01/11/opi… Image
