Ducey claimed that the move was to secure the southern border, and in October sued the Biden administration which wanted to stop Ducey’s construction. The outgoing governor slammed the government for what he says is failing to deal with the migration crisis at the border.
Along with the federal government, activists, environmentalists, and the incoming Democratic governor objected to Ducey’s plan, with Governor-elect Katie Hobbs, calling it a poor use of resources.
