WTF Is Lending?
Sometimes extra liquidity is needed, but selling tokens is not an option. Or perhaps you simply want to deposit one token and earn some interest in a low risk strategy?
Protocols like Banker Joe not only allow users to earn a passive yield on their assets but also borrow against them for some extra leverage.
For example, investors can deposit $AVAX and borrow $USDC, receiving stablecoins without selling a single red coin.
🔺
If borrowers want to receive their $AVAX back, they simply need to repay borrowed $USDC with all acquired interest.
Compared to traditional finance, the loan doesn't have a fixed term and can be repaid at any time or even never.
To ensure the protocol is solvent and assets outweigh liabilities, #DeFi lending protocols utilise automated smart contract logic and Collateralized Debt Positions.
This means that to borrow $1 worth of crypto, users have to deposit more than $1 worth of collateral.
The exact Loan To Value (LTV) ratios depend on the type of collateral and will be lower for more volatile and riskier assets.
If any user's LTV falls below a specific mark, their collateral is sold on the market, and the loan is repaid in a process known as liquidation.
To incentivise repayment of loans before liquidations happen and otherwise ensure stability, many lending protocols employ variable rates model.
On Banker Joe, borrowing and lending APRs increase in line with market demand for specific assets.
Because of this model and the fact that borrowers effectively pay interest to lenders, lending protocols are one of the most efficient sources of yield in DeFI.
Investors can deposit funds and receive payments from borrowers, even if they don't borrow anything themselves.
Lending protocols are therefore highly efficient money markets, that operate in a fully permission-less P2P way. They are revolutionary when compared to the archaic traditional system in place right now.

This December learn all about 'Decentralised Finance'. The basics, the history, the innovations we know today, and what the future holds.
This is #DeFiDecember and today we'll start off by covering what some people say #DeFi stands for...#DeFiance
A 🧵...
Decentralised Finance (DeFi) is the biggest usecase of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. Today we see DeFi's rapid evolution as a leading cause of disruption to the Traditional Finance industry.
But, there is more than simply disruption.
There is...DeFiance
Over the last three years, DeFi has grown from a few hundred million in TVL into a multi-billion industry, even in the bear market. DeFi has harnessed emerging technologies to redefine and shape an entirely new finance industry.
DeltaPrime is a highly innovative #DeFi protocol coming to #Avalanche with a unique value prop. Users can take out undercollateralized loans in a trustless way.
Two Types of Users:
🐬 Deposit an asset to earn yield
🐋 Borrow up to 4-4.5x your collateral 🔥
To prevent users from depositing, borrowing more and running off...Borrowed assets are held in 'smart contracts' that can be used with integrated dApps only.
Stables are sometimes, not stable. But de-peg events open up opportunities for those who want to take on some risk, in search of rewards.
Liquidity Book is an AMM that gives you flexibility to strategically position your liquidity...👇
Currently $USDT has a mild de-peg, with a market wide value of about $0.9992 as per @CoinMarketCap
Using the Liquidity Book AMM, users can actively participate during these events in the following ways:
🕹️ Play 1
• You think $USDT is likely to return to peg
• You market buy some $USDT
• You add liquidity in bins up to $1
• You wait for peg to return and yield $USDT gains + fees
Eg below shows $USDT added from $0.998901 up to $0.99
🏦 Finance penetrates all areas of our lives, but traditional finance (TradiFI) often lacks transparency, accessibility and accountability.
🌐 Decentralised Finance or simply 'DeFi' aims to solve these and other issues...but WTF exactly is DeFi? 👇
In Traditional Finance today, people are forced to keep their money in banks and other centralized institutions, having very little control over how those assets are actually custodied and managed.
Enter #DeFi:
• Self-custody of your assets
• True digital ownership
DeFi uses #blockchain technology to make sure there is no single party in control and no single point of failure.
Additionally, everyone with a device connected to the internet can interact with #DeFi 24/7 from any point of the world.

🗓️ EXTENDED to 20th of December
@LODE_one introduced tokenized Gold & Silver to #Avalanche along with $LODE a revenue sharing token that maintains a price ratio relative to the price of silver...👇
Traders on #Avalanche now have the opportunity to swap into gold and silver tokens, thanks to @LODE_one
$LODE - Revenue sharing token
$AGX - Represents one gram of silver
$AUX - Represents one milligram of gold
🦺 $AGX + $AUX are fully backed, insured and audited.
📉 By bringing physical commodities on-chain sustainably, $LODE aims to help more people protect their wealth from being eroded by inflation.
🌎 It also lowers the barrier to entry, making owning gold and silver accessible to everyone around the world.
