I reckon the best way for Scotland to get an effective state of #Independence is to use the devolved health powers to declare a nationwide emergency on #SARSCoV2 - maintain a strict quarantine into the country, nationalise the energy grid, implement UBI until the crisis is over.
health is an issue for the Scottish government and we are facing an unprecedented health crisis this is legally justified.

Nationalising energy, transportation and allocating resources to health and housing would be so popular that the SNP would be reelected at Holyrood forever
It would also bypass those who wish to remain part of the UK as technically we wouldn't leave - just fully enact the powers of the Scottish Parliament in the way that independence always promised.

It would give voters a taste of independence so they "can try before they buy".
We could implement a true suppression of the virus and make lifting of the state of emergency contingent on other UK nations reaching a specific level of virus suppression - since England will never again suppress the virus this would grant Scotland independence indefinitely.
If you are in favour of this strategy to reclaim Scotland's right to self governance please share it far and wide.

For generations the SNP has fought for Scotland, all that is required is to be honest about the unprecedented health crisis happening right now in Scotland.

On the grand scale of twitter I have a tiny tiny following, but a couple of weeks ago a random tweet I made ended up on something like a million screens.

This happened because of the amazing power of *YOU* - the excellent people who like, share and comment on my posts.
And this experience got me thinking about a few things. For one, even though we are largely ignored by big accounts and mainstream journalists, there are a significant number of us and we are embedded into a much larger network of people.
And when we are able to focus our energy on one point we can gather enough momentum that even the people who are completely uninterested in #SARSCoV2 end up getting caught up in the conversation. I feel like this is crucial to getting our message into circulation.

It seems to me that in order to solve both the climate & SARS2 crisis - both of which are existential threats to our species, we must face an uncomfortable fact about ourselves.

Across the political spectrum the concept of truth has been intentionally destroyed.
It became an arms race. Weapons of mass destruction were deployed. Populations were bombarded by information warfare. Peace became impossible.

Everyone points the finger at someone else. Even the idea that things could be different, better, now seems far fetched.
This is the direct outcome of deliberate strategy.

Put another way, this situation keeps populations locked into their narratives, often bleak and hopeless.

Your own thoughts about the possibility of change, of a better future, are weaponised against you.

A lot of people watched the GOP in the US & the Tories in the UK embrace open corruption & fascist policies for their own political benefit, and yet they don't believe these same parties would try to "ride the tiger" by intentionally spreading COVID too.

Of course they would.
And don't tell me "but Biden", his policies of mass infection are exactly what Trump proposed.

Roll out a vaccine which actually stops the long term damage and policies that allow people to live without getting infected, and then I'll give him some credit.

Otherwise fuck off.
Here's Britain's own former fascist strongman leader, laying out the intention to infect everyone with a virus which not only destroys your immune system like HIV but also destroys your brain, and directly killed over 200,000 Brits.

When you look back at the history of #HIV and #AIDS it took a massive publicity campaign & years to bring the public to the understanding that things had changed, that wearing a condom was now a habit they needed to adopt so they wouldn't get and spread a lethal infection. Image
And it was a different time, when people's media consumption was limited to TV, movies and print, most of which did not want to acknowledge the scale of the problem let alone promote a change to the status quo.

A lot of people suffered and died tragic, horrible, needless deaths
The scars from that era are still felt to this day. It took decades for an effective treatment to be developed, and in the beginning the attitudes from those in authority ranged from blasé to outright contempt and celebration at people's suffering.

Pretty much everyone I know who took COVID seriously, followed the rules, wore a mask all the time, and now in 2022 have just completely checked out.

They have never heard about the long term consequences of the virus, they think it's just paranoia when they hear it.
And there really isn't any reaching them either. As far as they are concerned - they got the vax so that means the story is over.

And I totally get that. From their perspective it makes sense.

The couple of stories in the news are like "it's a mystery, what-cha-gonna-do?"
With the nonstop bombardment of paranoid disinformation over the last few years folks are rightly skeptical, and this is a lot to ask people to accept.

Even if they bought the idea that politicians have sold them out - would the doctors & nurses they trust do this to them?

A lot of people who make comparisons to "zombie movies" really have no idea how accurate they are.

The entire genre can be traced back to George Romero's Night of The Living Dead.

The story uses horror to illustrate EXACTLY the type of behaviour we are witnessing now
Another one in Romero's catalogue is The Crazies. It had a trashy remake in the 00s. The original is available for free on YouTube.
It's a low budget, indy film from the 70s, but what the premise of a catastrophe appearing out of nowhere, being totally mishandled by the authorities and ultimately destroying the lives of those affected is particularly appropriate for our situation.
