Is there any other credible reason for people resisting taking sensible action on #SARSCoV2 other than they don't want to acknowledge how serious it is and the implications that brings?
I'm sure there are people who are happy at a "survival of the fittest" eugenics based approach to the world coming true, but I don't really believe that they exist in the kind of number we are witnessing right now.

I'll start it off, long established centre right publication The Economist recently published their estimate of true number of deaths caused by #SARSCoV2
It is as high as the total number of combat deaths in the most deadly military conflict in history, and in half the time.

I think we should ditch the name covid and corrona and just refer to SARSCoV2 as "The Tory Virus" - because one of the main symptoms of just being in the vicinity of it is you start to take on reactionary right wing view points and repeat them.
Worst of all there's no known cure for being a Tory, it's a lifetime affliction. Your entire brain gets rewired by a sinister parasitic organism, and before you know it you think Brexit was a good idea and the NHS should be run into the ground. This is known as the ERG effect.

The reason that #SARSCoV2 will become THE defining moment of our time is because it lifted the lid on the whole corrupt deal. We got the cards on the table and nobody is safe from this thing, no matter what status you had before. Everyone has been betrayed, massively.
The people fighting us the hardest are gonna be the first to start dying in droves, because they believe their genetics and status will protect them. But all humans are pretty much the same in the end. Biology is gonna humble our species faster than the environment will.

I reckon the best way for Scotland to get an effective state of #Independence is to use the devolved health powers to declare a nationwide emergency on #SARSCoV2 - maintain a strict quarantine into the country, nationalise the energy grid, implement UBI until the crisis is over.

And this experience got me thinking about a few things. For one, even though we are largely ignored by big accounts and mainstream journalists, there are a significant number of us and we are embedded into a much larger network of people.

It seems to me that in order to solve both the climate & SARS2 crisis - both of which are existential threats to our species, we must face an uncomfortable fact about ourselves.
Across the political spectrum the concept of truth has been intentionally destroyed.
It became an arms race. Weapons of mass destruction were deployed. Populations were bombarded by information warfare. Peace became impossible.
Everyone points the finger at someone else. Even the idea that things could be different, better, now seems far fetched.

A lot of people watched the GOP in the US & the Tories in the UK embrace open corruption & fascist policies for their own political benefit, and yet they don't believe these same parties would try to "ride the tiger" by intentionally spreading COVID too.
Of course they would.
And don't tell me "but Biden", his policies of mass infection are exactly what Trump proposed.
Roll out a vaccine which actually stops the long term damage and policies that allow people to live without getting infected, and then I'll give him some credit.

When you look back at the history of #HIV and #AIDS it took a massive publicity campaign & years to bring the public to the understanding that things had changed, that wearing a condom was now a habit they needed to adopt so they wouldn't get and spread a lethal infection.
And it was a different time, when people's media consumption was limited to TV, movies and print, most of which did not want to acknowledge the scale of the problem let alone promote a change to the status quo.
A lot of people suffered and died tragic, horrible, needless deaths

Pretty much everyone I know who took COVID seriously, followed the rules, wore a mask all the time, and now in 2022 have just completely checked out.
They have never heard about the long term consequences of the virus, they think it's just paranoia when they hear it.
And there really isn't any reaching them either. As far as they are concerned - they got the vax so that means the story is over.
And I totally get that. From their perspective it makes sense.
The couple of stories in the news are like "it's a mystery, what-cha-gonna-do?"

The fundamental point here is that Western governments have made a massive strategic error. They over played their hand with the vaccine.
It's clear to anyone who has been paying attention and isn't a fool.
We are heading for another collapse - do not panic. It happened before.
Don't be fool by the idea that shelter at home orders (aka lock down) was brought about by either choice or strategy.
These were desperate moves by desperate people trying to head off a bigger crisis.
They were also about protecting the status quo a all costs.

I'll admit it, the more I read about the consequences of SARS-COV2 infection the more scared I feel.
Not because the virus is horrible, it is - but so are lots of other things.
I'm scared because we've opened Pandora's Box and most of the world has no idea what's coming.
Even if you try to warn them they REFUSE to believe this is happening.
There's some kind of mental block which makes it impossible for people to recognise this is real.
Pretzel logic, paranoia, magical thinking, and total disinterest is the normal reaction.
